About

Welcome to MustEatFood.com — your friendly spot on the web for real-world recipes, honest kitchen tips, and a love for everyday cooking that feels approachable and fun.

I’m Sandra Walker, the creator behind this site. Before launching MustEatFood.com, I spent several years as an editor and recipe writer at The Spruce Eats, working with an incredible team of food editors, chefs, and home cooks. That experience shaped my love for clear, tested recipes and helpful food content. But like many of us, my path took a turn when the world shifted.

In 2020, when the pandemic changed everything, I found myself laid off along with many other talented colleagues. After a lot of reflection (and a lot of home cooking), I realized it was the perfect moment to start something of my own — a place where I could share the kinds of recipes and kitchen advice I genuinely use and trust every day.

That’s how MustEatFood.com was born: a personal, independent food website focused on recipes that actually work for busy home cooks, whether you’re feeding your family on a weeknight or trying something new on a quiet Sunday afternoon.

What You’ll Find Here

MustEatFood.com is all about simple, reliable, and flavorful recipes. I focus on approachable everyday dishes:

  • Quick weeknight dinners that don’t sacrifice taste
  • Classic comfort foods with a fresh twist
  • Easy desserts and baking projects that anyone can try
  • Breakfasts, snacks, and make-ahead meals to keep life a little easier

Every recipe I share is tested in my own kitchen, written with clear instructions and no unnecessary steps. If it doesn’t fit into real life — like juggling groceries, family, and an over-scheduled week — it doesn’t make it onto the site.

A Little More About Me

I grew up in the Midwest, where food has always been about gathering around the table. From my mom’s casseroles to the local farmers’ markets, I learned early on that good cooking doesn’t have to be fancy — it just has to be made with care.

Working at The Spruce Eats gave me a deeper understanding of recipe development, food photography, and working with readers from all over the world. Now, with MustEatFood.com, I get to bring that same knowledge and experience directly to you, in a more personal and hands-on way.

Why “Must Eat Food”?

The name came from a simple idea: life’s busy, but food is non-negotiable. We all must eat — so why not make it good? Whether it’s a fast one-pan meal or a slow Sunday bake, my goal is to make MustEatFood.com a resource you can trust and enjoy coming back to.
