Maybe because it’s technically a neighborhood spot, or that it doesn’t have a flashy name, but Comly Cafe is a massively overlooked gem for casual hangouts. It’s one of the best places in town to unwind after work – the newly renovated, clean modern atmosphere feels like a cozy retreat. One that has excellent bartenders who serve drinks with a smile, a friendly and welcoming staff, and the only pool table we will ever recommend playing on without worrying about disturbances.
Plus, sometimes you want to keep it simple when you go out.
Kelliann’s Bar & Grill

Kelliann’s is way more than a bar that serves food, even though it is both of those things. This neighborhood spot in Cherry Hill is cozy and casual, and the staff is very good at making conversation with regulars while also keeping your drinks refilled. And the food is pretty great, too: The chicken cheesesteak is packed with flavor, and they also serve some of the best wings in the city with that special Kelliann’s sauce.

SLOUNGE GRAFFITI BAR takes its laid-back vibe incredibly seriously, and almost comically so – you get to enjoy that spacious open-concept design with bright lighting that feels like a welcoming hug, and there are no pretentious servers hovering over you, just attentive and friendly wait staff who actually remember your drink order.
Despite the casual atmosphere, the food is genuinely satisfying and sometimes surprisingly good, like those edamame dumplings one reviewer called ‘the best thing on earth.’ If you two really want a lively spot where you can actually hear each other talk, and want access to Sampan’s menu without the fuss, grab a seat here during happy hour.

Then, you’ll settle into the pleasant, relaxed atmosphere for a casual, family-friendly meal which typically involves around three courses like guacamole and chips with salsas, tacos such as Quesabirrias and Lengua, and desserts like churros and tres leches cake. It feels like the coziest dinner party around, and there’s no better way to show this family what Southern California and Mexican flavors have to offer.

We don’t know why more places don’t combine two of the greatest things on earth – sports and comfort food – but we’re glad that Victory Bar & Grill does. This spacious sports bar in Cherry Hill feels more like a neighborhood hangout than anything else, except this one has exceptional crispy chicken, and one of the best Sunday breakfast buffets in town. When it comes to appetizers, the staff here will help you find the perfect starter to pair with everything.
Water Street Grill

No matter how many times you’ve ordered wings together, Mark will impress you. This Cherry Hill spot has a bustling, open kitchen where you can watch people tossing salads and grilling steaks while you eat. The wings with champ sauce are arguably the best plate of bar food in New Jersey, and the chili is going to ruin regular chili for you. Getting a table here isn’t always easy, but if you show up before 5 or after 8:30pm, you can usually snag a couple seats together at the bar.
Rhawnhurst Cafe

Rhawnhurst Cafe is technically a bar and grill in Cherry Hill, but the experience here is nothing like a typical neighborhood spot. This one involves themed nights with pool leagues, a welcoming vibe that makes you feel like family, and enough good drinks that you’ll be satisfied by the end of it. We won’t give too much away, but just know you should come early on busy nights – the place here fills up fast.
Colonial Cafe

It’s always calm and relaxed inside, and you’ll more than likely see a friendly face from the neighborhood at a nearby stool. But chatting with regulars is only part of what makes Colonial Cafe a really straightforward spot for a quick bite – the sizable porkroll egg and cheese sandwiches, fresh deli foods, and good drink specials don’t hurt, either.
Just walk in, but grab a seat at the bar. That way, you have an excuse to get a beer and some light eats from the tiny kitchen while Dino mixes you something awesome.
Southwood Bar

Show up a bit before the evening rush to grab a seat at the bar and get some beers from their wide selection, then for food, stick with the burgers and sandwiches, like the Jersey Burger and cheesesteak. The bar is also a nice place for a night out with live music, like the excellent ‘No Alibis’ blues band or singer Tim Murray, if you’re into that kind of thing.

We like the welcoming vibe, which is basically a really good neighborhood hangout, and the generous spirit and community feeling.
