Don’t worry, you’ll get used to everyone who’s not from Plymouth saying, “Oh, the Rock. I think my aunt visited there,” when you mention your breakfast plans. In the meantime, you’re lucky to be in a place that’s steeped in history but still serves up modern morning delights. Breakfast-wise, that means you’re surrounded by some great options. When you’re sick of the same soggy cereal at your hotel, check out one of the spots below.
The Blueberry Muffin Restaurant: Kingston MA
$ | (781) 936-8848 | WEBSITE

Your friends from the city are going to endlessly complain that there’s no good breakfast in Plymouth. Let them do it – complaining about lackluster diner food is a crucial part of establishing your weekend routine. But while they’re busy ranting about soggy hash browns, head to The Blueberry Muffin in Kingston. It’s a great casual spot for getting your morning really satisfying and enjoying some eggs.
Believe it or not, the blueberry muffins are actually the best thing on the menu, so don’t miss out on one of those.
Corner Cafe
$ | (781) 837-8150 | WEBSITE

If you want a proper breakfast but are stuck with friends who prefer brunch cocktails, take them to Corner Cafe (or get new friends). This is a really bright, cheerful spot that serves things like the Conquistador sandwich, which is the gateway to carnitas burritos.
Even if you can’t get them to eat those, this place is one of the most popular breakfast spots in town – with generous portions, tables in a lively atmosphere that gets noisy when busy, and morning cocktails to complement dishes like clam chowder and California eggs Benedict.
Early Bird
$ | (781) 585-4068 | WEBSITE

Early Bird is a breakfast spot with some of the best morning plates around Plymouth. You’re going to want to try just about everything on the menu, so either come with a big appetite or when you’re ready to treat yourself. It’s cozy, it has great coffee, and it kind of looks like a classic diner owned by someone who really loves vintage Americana, so come here, start with the hash benedict, and have a delicious morning.
The Mug
$ | (781) 837-6668 | WEBSITE

Big breakfasts for under $14 are as essential to living as oxygen, coffee, and a good parking spot. The Mug is a quick table-service spot where you can fill up on classic breakfast plates every morning until 11:30am. You can’t go wrong with the blueberry pancakes, but we prefer the eggs Benedict, and we almost always finish with the Belgium waffles.
Local Roots
$ | (508) 747-1710 | WEBSITE

When you’re exploring Plymouth’s historic sites or just need a great breakfast, head to Local Roots, right across from East Bay Grill on Plymouth Bay. The breakfast here is affordable (most items around $12-16) but it’s one of the best in town, with crabcakes that are perfectly seasoned and date shakes that are rich and creamy. If you want to keep things simple, you can order the Johnny Applebee’s sandwich off the menu, along with some other healthy options, too.
The outdoor seating lets you enjoy the ocean breeze and beautiful views while you eat.
The Blueberry Muffin Restaurant
$ | (508) 888-9444 | WEBSITE

You’ve probably noticed that Plymouth is on the coast (if not, consider taking a history class). As a result, we do breakfast just about better than anything else. A lot of our best breakfast spots are crowded and have long waits, though, which is why you’re really lucky to be so close to The Blueberry Muffin Restaurant. This place makes some seriously great things like grilled pistachio muffins and corned beef hash benedict, and does it cozy-casual style.
All you have to do is find a table, enjoy the friendly service from Carly and her team, and savor their Breakfast BLT on an “Everything” bagel, the first bite of which may turn out to be a formative morning experience.
IHOP
$ | (774) 773-7193 | WEBSITE

IHOP is one of the most reliable breakfast spots in Plymouth. As a result, if you come here on a weekend morning it’ll seem to be filled entirely with local families and regulars enjoying their pancakes in a comfortable, familiar setting. But you should keep this classic diner type place in mind for just about any morning craving.
It has some of the best vegetarian options around, like the egg white omelette with veggies and fruit, and the welcoming atmosphere with friendly staff like Laura, who remembers regulars’ orders, makes everyone feel right at home. The quick service and clean environment mean you can enjoy a satisfying meal without a long wait, even when the small free parking lot gets busy.
The Blueberry Muffin
$ | (508) 927-4566 | WEBSITE

If you’ve ever been mentally and emotionally crippled by the decision of what breakfast to get at a great morning spot, grab a few friends and head to The Blueberry Muffin at the Pinehills location. All the breakfast items here are served in good-sized portions, so you don’t have to decide between the avocado toast and the French toast – you can try just about every one.
We highly recommend doing that when the holidays are approaching, so you can enjoy the cozy log cabin atmosphere with all the festive decorations. But even in the summer this place is a great hang, mostly because the interior feels like one of those rustic vacation cabins that get profiled in the Sunday paper.
Farmer’s Omelet
$ | (774) 338-5205 | WEBSITE

Farmer’s Omelet is a cozy breakfast spot tucked away in a small shopping plaza. If you’re looking for a classic diner experience with all the trimmings, you’re better off heading to one of those larger chains because the portions here are generous and priced for locals. But still, it’s fantastic that you can get biscuits and gravy, a rarity around here, followed by hash Benedict with homemade hash and a bottomless coffee in a warm space that feels like home.
Persy’s Place Kingston
$ | (781) 585-5464 | WEBSITE

If your idea of breakfast is a sad bowl of cereal, then it’s time to make some upgrades. Persy’s Place Kingston, a family-owned spot with a cozy, country atmosphere and a nice outdoor patio for good weather days, is a great place to do that. Come here for some really generous breakfast and lunch options, including the popular Reuben sandwich and vegetarian choices, and service that’s friendly and attentive enough to enjoy even if you’re just grabbing a take-out treat from the bakery section.
D’s Omelet Shoppe
$ | (508) 866-7851 | WEBSITE

Anyone who’s been in Plymouth for a while might initially balk at the idea of a cash-only breakfast spot, since it feels like a throwback to another era. But if you’re going to embrace old-school charm, it might as well come with a genuinely cozy country atmosphere and a lovely fairy garden by the windowsill. The staff here is consistently kind, and the breakfast options are deliciously priced—the special apple crumble pancakes are your must-try.
With a warm, small-gem feel and a menu that won’t break the bank, the experience isn’t bad, either.
Carmen’s Cafe Nicole
$ | WEBSITE

Heading out for breakfast only to end up somewhere disappointing is the worst. But you are pretty much guaranteed to have a satisfying morning at Carmen’s Cafe Nicole. That’s because you get those incredible breakfast tacos with eggs, cheese, and corn salsa for around $14 alongside stunning ocean views.
If you can’t make it in the morning because that’s when you walk the dog along the waterfront, they serve until they close, too, and you can always count on it for a hot cup of coffee and a homey atmosphere that feels so cozy you’ll want to stay all day.
