Whether you’re craving a classic cheeseburger, need to impress a date with gourmet toppings, or got banned from your favorite joint after they caught you hoarding their secret sauce packets—sometimes you need a burger that hits all the right notes. One with perfect patties, melty cheese, and maybe even some of Cincinnati’s best fries, because you can’t do anything without the full experience. Here are the spots that deliver.
Fifty West Brewing Company- Burger Bar
$ | (513) 834-8789 | WEBSITE

Fifty West Brewing Company- Burger Bar has a rainbow sprinkle donut shake that’s basically dessert in a glass, and that’s reason enough for us to come here. The whole vibe of this place is, fittingly, “weekend fun and games,” which makes you feel like you’re hanging out at a friend’s backyard barbecue with way better food. Way better than sitting at home scrolling through your phone, right?
Milkman
$ | (513) 381-0009 | WEBSITE

If you’re craving a burger in Cincinnati, this is where you want to be. Milkman is the vintage diner with a cozy atmosphere, and it doesn’t have the same pretentiousness as other trendy spots. The space has a mixture of counter seating, booths, and outdoor tables that make it easy to relax. During the day, it’s perfect for a quick lunch, so grab some friends when you’ve finally finished running errands downtown.
Butterbee’s American Grille
$ | (513) 528-5800 | WEBSITE

Butterbee’s American Grille on Beechmont Avenue is a welcoming spot with excellent parking. Yes, it’s a great choice for your burger rotation, with comfortable seating and attentive service—but come here for the pulled pork. The tender, smoky, slow-cooked pork piled on nachos or tucked into sliders is satisfying on its own, but it’s even better when paired with their crispy fried pickle spears.
And while those make us want to shout about this place from the rooftops, we’d be equally happy to do the same for Butterbee’s pork chops and burgers, which some customers call the best they’ve had in years.
Ali’s Bar and Grill
$ | (513) 271-9378 | WEBSITE

Ali’s Bar and Grill is our go-to spot when we need a solid burger in Cincinnati. There are plenty of TVs spread around, and the neighborhood bar vibes make the space welcoming and allow for some great people-watching. Grab some wings or poutine while you’re there.
Nation Westwood
$ | (513) 389-0167 | WEBSITE

If a great burger is as much on your mind as convenience and all the errands you need to run, then head over to Nation Westwood in the old CFD firehouse. This place has a full menu (with burgers, sandwiches, and salads) every day, so you can grab a bite and have a real meal. The unique space is comfortable enough that you can easily spend a whole afternoon here, too.
Sammy’s Craft Burgers & Beers
$$ | (513) 745-9484 | WEBSITE

This burger joint doubles as a local hangout, one of those classic spots that existed back before we got our fast-food prints all over drive-thru windows instead of actual dining rooms. Sammy’s Craft Burgers & Beers is located in Cincinnati, and being here feels a lot like eating in your family’s kitchen, but with better burgers and fewer dishes to wash. Come for craft beers and specialty burgers, and stay to finally enjoy that lively atmosphere with friends or coworkers.
The Turf Club
$$ | (513) 533-4222 | WEBSITE

The Turf Club has been serving up burgers and bar fare from its classic small-town spot for a while. And their main dining area, with its wide range of menu options, is one of our favorite places to grab a memorable meal. There’s plenty of outdoor seating that’s more accessible, and enough friendly servers, hand-made burger patties, and fun atmosphere to trick you into thinking you’re at a popular spot featured on TV.
And while the burgers are always delicious, don’t neglect the vegetarian dishes. Enjoying the overall experience is better with a unique combination of fried manchego cheese, peppers, and a flavorful sauce or one of their delectable vegetarian options.
The Park Diner – Northside
$ | (513) 541-0159 | WEBSITE

This Northside diner is vibrant, welcoming, and located right in the neighborhood in a building that used to be Park Chili. The Park Diner – Northside is perfect if you need to grab a classic American meal, and also want the option to enjoy some very good burgers, sandwiches, and vegetarian specials at the same time.
It’s always lively, but never too packed to get a booth with a view of the retro-modern decor, and the food is way better than your typical spot with a counter full of basic diner fare and soda fountain drinks.
Frisch’s Big Boy
$ | (513) 851-9696 | WEBSITE

When you just need a reliable spot for a classic meal, head to Frisch’s Big Boy in Cincinnati. This place wants you to feel welcome and satisfied—it literally shows in the staff’s dedication. It’s a straightforward diner atmosphere, with comfortable booths and friendly service, and most menu items run $5–$12—dishes like the Smash Boy burger, chili (described as hot and tasty), and the Hot Fudge Cake, which is just delightful to eat.
And if you do end up lingering, the attentive staff like Esperanza often bring extra sauces without being asked, making the experience even better.
deSha’s – Cincinnati
$$ | (513) 247-9933 | WEBSITE

By day, deSha’s is a reliable local restaurant for classic comfort food. But during lunch, this Cincinnati spot transforms into a very satisfying burger destination. The kitchen is open until late afternoon every day, offers generous portions, and serves things like quality burgers and fish and chips. There’s a consistent variety of fresh options like a very tasty tomato basil soup, and a menu stocked with hot sandwiches and salads.
So you’ll have all the resources needed to finally enjoy that leisurely lunch with friends you’ve been planning since last week.
