Soul Secrets
$$ | (513) 721-7685 | WEBSITE

If crispy catfish and creamy mac n cheese isn’t an easy way to get to your soul’s satisfaction, you need to stop ordering takeout from anywhere else immediately, because you’re clearly missing out. If it is though, head to Soul Secrets. The Cincinnati soul food spot is serving up generous portions of perfectly seasoned whiting, golden fried chicken, and all the homemade sides you crave, with attentive service that makes every guest feel special.
Open for those who appreciate food cooked with care just like grandma used to make.
The Härth Room
$$ | (513) 621-3473 | WEBSITE

The Härth Room is one of our favorite cocktail bars in the city, and they’re currently offering a cozy and intimate ambiance with live music that sets the mood for a relaxing evening. You can enjoy the solid cocktail happy hour if you want, but our move is to go for the acclaimed Phil DeGreg Trio performances, and throw in a custom mocktail from the highly praised coffee bar on top.
Gulow Street
$ | (513) 873-4005 | WEBSITE

Blame the classic American burger if you want, but the fact is comfort food will always be the most satisfying meal to order after a long day. So lean into it and head to Gulow Street. The Cincinnati restaurant makes some of our favorite burgers in the city (and maybe anywhere), and now, the entire experience is available in a cozy, retro atmosphere. We’re not saying you have to pair it with their sesame noodles, but it’d be rewarding for everyone if you did.
Tillie’s Lounge
$ | (513) 541-1414 | WEBSITE

You remembered to put on real pants and leave the house – that qualifies as a night out in 2026. Reward your effort with a visit to Tillie’s Lounge. This inviting cocktail bar in Cincinnati opened a while back and remains one of our favorite hangout spots in town. The atmosphere here is cozy, welcoming, and fun – with stylish decor, plenty of seating with pillows, and a dog-friendly patio. Be sure to enjoy some of their delicious mocktails as well. Available for karaoke nights and theme parties.
Crown Republic Gastropub
$$ | (513) 246-4272 | WEBSITE

Sure, it’s a casual dinner, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t in the mood for some elevated comfort. Head to Crown Republic Gastropub. The charming spot in Cincinnati has a fantastic menu that pulls influences from classic American gastropub fare. Think pillowy gnocchi in spicy red sauce, braised pork and spinach cavatelli, and one of our favorite burgers in the city. Both indoor and outdoor seating are available with cozy flower boxes, especially vibrant during PRIDE events.
Igby’s
$ | (513) 246-4396 | WEBSITE

If you know one thing about your partner, it’s that all they need is a cozy spot and a good drink to unwind. You, on the other hand, just need a cocktail with a story. Sounds like Igby’s is your destination tonight. The charming restaurant with its beautiful Snug Room is that rare bar that’s mastered the art of atmosphere – dark, intimate decor, fantastic service, and drinks that won’t disappoint your palate.
They’re offering their full signature cocktail menu at the moment, but if you want one of their Greek mythology-inspired creations like the Aphrodite (which you do), you’ll need to visit in person. Head to their location and ask for Sai to craft you something special.
The Orbit Room OTR
$ | (415) 374-9592 | WEBSITE

The Orbit Room OTR is a cozy corner spot in a great location, and though the cocktails are a bit pricier than what you’d find at other bars in the neighborhood, the drinks are so good you don’t care. The menu is focused, so we recommend coming in with a plan of ordering the Venus cocktail, any of their properly made margaritas, and checking out the vegan options from the collaboration with Essen next door.
That said, if something else also catches your eye, it’s probably going to be excellent, too. Available for both a relaxing evening with friends and enjoying the beautiful decor with featured artists on the walls.
Mid City Restaurant
$$ | WEBSITE

Being stuck in a 900-square foot apartment might not be ideal, but do you know what is? Cocktails and tapas. And that’s why you should head to Mid City Restaurant when you’re planning a night out. The Cincinnati cocktail bar has excellent food across-the-board, plus fun mocktails at reduced prices. The agadashi tofu and carrot/beet bisque are standouts, and the braised rabbit is excellent. The skewers are also very flavorful, and the bread with pickle butter was great.
This is definitely tapas style, so order 2-3 plates if you come in hungry. Still, not particularly pricey and the food quality is memorable. The staff are warm and welcoming, making every guest feel special. With its cozy atmosphere and attention to detail, it’s clear why Mid City Restaurant boasts a 4.9-star rating.
The Lackman
$ | (513) 381-0741 | WEBSITE

You’ve been working late nights at the office all week, and right now, true relaxation means having a drink in a place where nobody asks for your LinkedIn profile. Consider The Lackman. The neighborhood bar in OTR (adjacent to Washington Park) makes our favorite cocktails in Cincinnati, including seasonal drinks like the harvest spritz and espresso martini that are so good you’ll order another round even when you should probably head home. Both walk-ins and reservations are welcome.
Agave & Rye Rookwood
$$ | (513) 620-8228 | WEBSITE

Everybody knows that creative tacos make for the best kind of meal, but since not everyone is up for a full-blown fiesta in Cincinnati at the moment, we recommend something crafty like Agave & Rye Rookwood. The cool cocktail bar restaurant in Rookwood has totally nailed their menu with inventive options like the birria tacos and The Becky—a fried chicken and mac and cheese piled-high masterpiece—that start at just $14 (they go up to $22, btw).
The bananas foster dessert taco is also a delightful choice, and the OG Margarita, served in a unique skull glass, is a must-try. Call ahead or just walk in—the unbeatable atmosphere and attentive service from staff like Sophia and manager Tom ensure a memorable experience, though the adult theme means it might not be ideal for kids. Despite some pricing concerns, the creative flavors and solid portions make it a must-visit spot, especially for taco lovers.
The Fix Coffeehouse & Bar
$ | (513) 620-7076 | WEBSITE

If you’re anything like us, a cozy coffeehouse is always a go-to workday move. And while chain cafes admittedly lose a bit of their soul, one place where the charm never fades is The Fix Coffeehouse & Bar. The welcoming Cincinnati spot is serving delicious $8 breakfast sandwiches, as well as $6 matcha lattes. That’s an incredible value for a place where the atmosphere alone could justify higher prices.
Of course, if you do want to go the indulgent route, their chai tea with cold foam gets you that perfect creamy finish for $5.50. Grab a seat by the local art or find a quiet corner. Limited seating only.
Rosedale
$$ | (513) 864-5400 | WEBSITE

Rosedale is a versatile cocktail bar in Cincinnati’s OTR, and a great way to say ‘let’s unwind’ after a long week of work. The entire venue offers both a cozy indoor space and what’s considered the best patio in the area, perfect for casual drinks and relaxing gatherings. The friendly staff, including bartenders like Dylan and Jake, provide excellent service with engaging banter and local knowledge. Your evening already feels better.
Nine Giant Fermentorium
$$ | (513) 366-4550 | WEBSITE

Let’s start with the bad news – that elaborate beer-tasting tour across the country you and your friends were planning for the weekend clearly didn’t happen. The good news? You can somewhat make up for it by heading over to Nine Giant Fermentorium.
The cozy spot right around the corner from the main brewery has a wide-ranging, creative selection that features everything from aged options like the HEAVY METAL DRUMMER ’22 DOUBLE BARREL RUM IMPERIAL STOUT to incredible cocktails, and it’s all very good. Throw in a beer flight and you’ll be sampling the best of the neighborhood from your seat. Available for private events and casual visits, or just drop in for an impromptu drink.
Sundry and Vice
$ | (513) 721-8423 | WEBSITE

Sundry and Vice is a solid cocktail bar in Cincinnati that comes from the same space that once housed George Remus’ Pharmacy – adding to its clandestine, speakeasy charm. There’s a moody, apothecary-inspired vibe filled with torchy old vocals and a sophisticated yet relaxed setting – all things you want around you when the mood trends mysterious. Bonus: The bartenders are very knowledgeable about the neighborhood and can recommend nearby eateries, though no food is served on-site.
Available for a well-made drink.
The Arepa Place
$ | (513) 948-9500 | WEBSITE

The Arepa Place is one of our favorite gluten-free spots in Cincinnati, but don’t overlook the other items on their menu, either. From transcendental empanadas to refreshing aguapanela to one of the best vegetarian stuffed arepas in town, building a full meal around their savory arepas (get the vegetarian stuffed and the giant arepa with beef, chicken, and chorizo) is a requirement, not a suggestion.
Patio dining gets you that pleasant outdoor experience, or you can always do indoor seating with their cute decor and good ambiance.
Alara
$$$ | (513) 272-5315 | WEBSITE

Fine dining might seem like a formal affair for a casual Friday, but so is finding joy in the everyday, so just embrace it. The upscale spot in Cincinnati is offering their full menu for both dinner and special occasions, and while you can order any dish individually, we recommend the Chef’s Table experience. It’s an intimate setting where you can watch the kitchen work just feet away while enjoying dishes like wagyu tartare, lamb cooked to perfection, and seared scallops with fresh summer corn.
At $125 per person, it’s also a memorable splurge.
Wiseguy Lounge – Pleasant Ridge
$$ | (513) 351-0592 | WEBSITE

Not to be confused with the very famous pizza shop of a similar name, this Pleasant Ridge speakeasy is a warm, inviting lounge located above Goodfellas on Montgomery Road. It features incredible craft cocktails at reasonable prices, but if you’re trying to pull off a relaxed night out, make it easy on yourself, and just get the classic cocktails.
For around $14 each, they come with serious drinks like the amazing peanut butter tequila or chocolate martini from the skilled bartenders, delicious pizza from downstairs, and even the charming outdoor patio seating. And let’s be honest, if a bonus leather sofa in the spacious upstairs area with great lighting doesn’t get you in the mood, nothing will.
The Davidson
$$ | (513) 263-1060 | WEBSITE

Taking a cue from the city’s vibrant cocktail scene, you want to impress your friends with a standout meal tonight. We recommend The Davidson. The acclaimed restaurant is now featured among Cincinnati’s best cocktail bars (on the updated 2026 list, to be precise), and is serving the same fabulous dishes that made them popular.
You can either order appetizers like the Moroccan Eggplant for around $14 or entrees like the Steak Frites for about $32, but considering the generous portions and excellent wine list, we’ll let you decide which option suits your appetite. Available for both indoor dining and outdoor seating.
