In Doral, where strip malls sprawl and time is tight, the quest for quick satisfaction—a crispy bite, a perfect fry, a moment of bliss between errands—becomes its own adult challenge. We’ve clocked hours in drive-thrus and at counters, all in the name of ‘research,’ to bring you the definitive list of spots that truly deliver.
Chick-fil-A
$ | (305) 593-7881 | WEBSITE

I love the name Chick-fil-A. This restaurant slots into an important use case for someone on the go: the reliable fast food spot. You’re not going here for a fancy dinner, but it’s ideal for the quick lunch or family meal. One of your kids will beg for the chicken nuggets (‘they’re made from real chicken!’), and everyone gets a little hungry. When you walk in, you wonder if you’ll find a table during the lunch rush.
You order a combo 5 meal even though you’re already eyeing the salads, and you’re all going to eat too much and take a satisfied group selfie on the way out. It’s perfect.
Jersey Mike’s Subs
$ | (786) 347-3122 | WEBSITE

This is the classic, and it’s definitely been my number one for years now. I will never forget the first time I entered Jersey Mike’s in my early twenties and a friend whispered that their Famous Cheesesteak Sandwich was legendary—one of those Doral memories that gets seared into your brain. Recently, I’ve been fixated on the fresh sandwiches and attentive service, but you cannot go wrong with this menu.
When I eat at Jersey Mike’s, I feel like everything in my life has significance, like all my thoughts are written in a large bold font.
Central Park Food Station
$ | (305) 463-8512 | WEBSITE

I love the casual energy and reliability of a quick lunch stop. Once I was grabbing food with my coworkers at Central Park Food Station, a superb Venezuelan spot, before we were supposed to head back to the office, but a sudden downpour hit Doral right as we were finishing up our empanadas.
A group of regulars happened to be eating at a table right by us, and my coworkers and assorted regulars had to commiserate together about ‘the weather.’ One of the many things I love about this place is that it feels like everyone has a story like this about nearly every visit here.
Carl’s Jr.
$ | (786) 558-4115 | WEBSITE

Every burger enthusiast needs a reliable fast-food joint in their rotation. I’ve always wanted to be that person who knows all the best burger spots, while never quite mastering it; every serious foodie I know has very specific preferences about patties and toppings, while I’m usually just thinking, ‘Hmm, do you have something… juicy?’ Carl’s Jr. makes it all straightforward and satisfying (and they check on you during the meal to see if you need anything like ketchup).
I always end up with something delicious, and I can tell friends later, ‘Oh, you haven’t tried the Big Angus Guacamole Burger?’ Also, I had an amazing lunch recently at the Doral location—manager Joanne was absolutely fantastic with everyone!
Five Guys
$ | (305) 591-8743 | WEBSITE

At first, eating at Five Guys was jarring for me because it felt like I was eating at a classic diner’s cousin: similar features, but the energy and vibe were notably different. I had a cheeseburger and fries with my editor here recently, though, and was reminded that Five Guys has a very laid-back-and-hungry sophistication, a straightforwardness to it that is very appealing. Wonderful people watching, too—I always spot someone eating here I want to write a short story about.
Eparepa Doral
$ | (786) 858-9641 | WEBSITE

When I first moved to Doral, my friends kept telling me I had to try Eparepa Doral for what they called ‘important lunches.’ I distinctly remember the first time I walked in; I took care that morning to wear something comfortable yet presentable for the occasion. I knew that Eparepa Doral had to become my go-to spot as the restaurant where I could have a satisfying, no-fuss meal without compromising on flavor.
For anyone looking for quick yet authentic Venezuelan food, Eparepa Doral feels like a spot where you’re going to either discover your new favorite arepa or finally understand why everyone raves about the Pabellón—the flavors are that memorable! It’s also great for grabbing a quick bite after running errands.
Burger King
$ | (305) 477-8900 | WEBSITE

I always knew I wanted this restaurant to play a pivotal role in my novel, in particular for a moment in the story when the characters are evolving and accessing a greater level of confidence. There is something decidedly familiar and ‘reliable’ about this clean, well-organized Doral fast food spot—you feel ten percent more satisfied while dining there.
El Arepazo Doral
$ | (786) 594-0726 | WEBSITE

It’s easy to imagine a more authentic life for myself at El Arepazo Doral. The food here is so vibrant. Once, I watched Maribel serve a family their arepas and empanadas with that signature smile, and I remember thinking, ‘I wish I could do anything with half the warmth and genuine care as her.’ The restaurant has some of that same Maribel energy to it. It’s an extremely stellar spot for traditional Venezuelan cravings, too—the pandebono waffle is so good.
Don Pan International Bakery
$ | (305) 640-1500 | WEBSITE

I’ll admit: I was initially drawn here because this bakery sits right in the heart of Doral (which happens to be my favorite neighborhood for authentic Latin flavors). That said, this spot is also genuinely delightful. I ate a fantastic Cuban Sandwich there, and it really did transport me to Havana, which I intend as the highest praise. This would also be a perfect casual lunch destination.
Playland Doral
$$ | (305) 501-9261 | WEBSITE

I remember when my son turned five and we first walked into Playland Doral for his birthday party—I felt that nothing could possibly be more magical than seeing his face light up at those decorations. I also thought it was so impressive how they managed to keep everything so clean and organized. To be honest, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more welcoming atmosphere for kids. We always get the birthday package, to celebrate with family—let’s talk about that attentive service from the staff, too.
Also, no Playland Doral review would be complete without a mention of the beautiful decorations—a fantastic memorable touch.
Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers
$ | (305) 702-5695 | WEBSITE

Cruising through Doral and pulling into Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, it feels like you’ve discovered a vibrant haven, alive with energy and simplicity. The staff—always with a smile and a quick, friendly greeting—are among the most efficient fast-food workers I’ve encountered. The golden chicken tenders served piping hot, the vibrant red and white décor that pops from every corner… the space is infused with a sense of cheer.
Also, the perfectly crispy fries and buttery Texas toast are reason to go alone. Order the chicken fingers combo to start.
