SWEET PEA HOTDOGS

I’ve been craving that New York street food vibe for years now. Sweet Pea Hotdogs just hits the spot every single time. It’s really satisfying to swing by after work for a quick bite, and I think it’s perfect for grabbing lunch with coworkers too. They have those authentic Sabrett hotdogs; they have the Italian sausage with peppers and onions, grilled until charred. There’s just a warm, nostalgic atmosphere. And we’ve always left feeling completely satisfied…for the most part.

Long Doggers

Long Doggers

Long Doggers is absolutely one of our go-to spots. It’s one of the few restaurants in Melbourne that truly captures that beach-inspired vibe. For us Space Coast regulars, atmosphere-wise, it’s hard to top their outdoor seating setup.

Aves’ Place

Aves

Aves’ Place is a true gem. One of my favorite things every weekend is that there’s one afternoon that we go as a family and it’s just really fun to all be there together and just have the wifi working with all of us relaxing. Conversation is easy and we’re all just having a good time together. There’s a lot of good memories at Aves’ Place that we’ve made. The food’s always fresh, the smoothies are always refreshing, and of course the ice cream is top notch.

In my eyes, I will do anything for a good hot dog. And sometimes you want them so badly and they arrive and they’re not satisfying, but Aves’ Place nails them every single time. It’s so good.

Mustard’s Famous Hot Dogs

Mustard

I had to mention it because we make a regular pilgrimage there [as a crew]. And here’s what I love about it: it’s a good spot. It’s a big spot. There’s multiple seating areas. There’s an outdoor patio. There are picnic tables. There’s a front yard. You get a lot of options, depending on the mood. It’s one of the few places in all of Melbourne that has that complete casual experience, when they’re open.

You can start with a hot dog, you can move to the patio, and next thing you know, you’re at a picnic table or you’re in their front yard. I’m always inside ordering, because the counter turns into a hub. You get it all, quick or leisurely.

Wings & Things Palm Bay

Wings & Things Palm Bay

It’s a little more laid-back than some of the other spots on our list, but their wings and sides are so good. My advice is to start with the jalapeño poppers and go from there. It’s just so welcoming and comfortable. The food and service are always very consistent. It’s also right in the heart of Palm Bay, which is super convenient. Since we’re usually there for game days, I typically eat a lot of wings, just because that’s what they’re known for, especially in Brevard.

So I’ll probably usually get a mix of hot honey Parm and exceedra. But their chicken strip basket is also amazing. Maybe go for a little wings and strips combo if you’re torn like me.

Mochinut Melbourne

$ | (321) 600-4201 | WEBSITE

Mochinut Melbourne

The best corn dogs in Melbourne, and the best mochi donuts, is at Mochinut. You can just drop in. It’s great for a quick treat. They’ve taken over the space and really improved it, because the atmosphere is just so good. There’s a self-service counter now. You can settle in with a good boba milk tea, some easy ordering, and a nice Korean corn dog. In fact, we should do a friends’ snack run out there soon. It’s perfect for that.

Moo’s Soft Serve

Moo

You’ll find me here more often than not. I love that it’s not just another beach shack, but it kind of has the feeling of something way more nostalgic. The ambiance is a cow-themed spot that’s kind of mixed up with some classic beach town charm—a little whimsical, but I’m always charmed. I feel at ease there all the time. They have the best dairy-free shakes that I’ve had in my life, and the banana splits are just out of this world. I get them every single time I step foot in there.

Their hotdogs are amazing. The vibe is just immaculate. They have kid-friendly rides and games—not like an amusement park’s, the kind where it’s simple fun and you’re keeping an eye on the little ones. That’s the vibe.

Five Guys

$ | (321) 574-8622 | WEBSITE

Five Guys

Five Guys takes me back. Anytime a chain, whether it’s in a strip mall or a city center, has maintained its quality—which in the fast-food industry might be just a few years—it’s impressive. I know my first visit there was in 2022 or 2023. It’s always on the menu, but they have these burgers, and now they have an incredible bacon milkshake. A lot of times you go to a burger joint and you end up eating something forgettable. It’s a fast-food spot!

Maybe I was a little hungry, but I remember that first meal being one of the best I’ve ever had. It’s also a reliable restaurant—you go inside and it has this very bustling feel. You can grab some peanuts and watch the staff work. There’s plenty of like seating and counters and stuff. It’s a big comfort-food spot.
