Doral has a lot going on. It’s home to major corporate headquarters, the Miami International Mall, and possibly most importantly: some of South Florida’s most authentic Japanese cuisine. If you’re a local, you’re going to find this guide helpful (except for the fact that it doesn’t come with free edamame). But Doral’s Japanese scene isn’t just for sushi purists. There are plenty of delicious discoveries to make no matter your taste.
Aki Japanese buffet

For a satisfying Japanese meal, Aki Japanese Buffet should be on your shortlist. There’s a wide selection here, including sushi, hot dishes, appetizers and Asian biscuits. We’re fans of all of it, especially their fantastic orange chicken that’s so flavorful it could probably satisfy any craving. Be sure to spend some quality time with the fluffy Asian biscuits and an order of gyoza, too.
Rakki Sushi & Omakase

There’s always a wait for a seat at Rakki Sushi & Omakase around dinnertime, they only take reservations, and sometimes the chef will take an extra five minutes on a dish just because he wants it perfect. Normally, these things would be kind of a hassle, but not here. The sushi is always wonderfully fresh with some added flair from the omakase. You’re in good hands ordering anything, and while a lot of the buzz has to do with their O’Toro, note that the A5 Wagyu is way better.
El Sushi by Soya – Express Asian Food

Sushi isn’t a big deal in Doral, except when it comes to the excellent rolls at El Sushi by Soya. There’s a different selection of innovative rolls every day (hope for the chicken roll), and you can get yours as a platter, topped with fresh fish that practically melts in the mouth, or paired with beautifully presented sides. Make sure you order ahead of time no matter what—it’s a terrific spot with friendly staff like Rafael providing attentive, knowledgeable service.
Kamiko Sushi Bar

What used to be a straightforward sushi spot is now the best thing to happen to Doral. Kamiko’s showing features generous portions across the board, a resounding freshness, and a spongy center of rice that resembles the heart of a perfect roll. Tuna tacos are just as crisp. And the variety knows no bounds, as you’ll find humble tuna rolls rubbing elbows with Fancy rolls topped with spicy mayo and eel sauce.
They’re open for dinner, but we recommend showing up on a Saturday night before the free bottle of wine runs out.
Taikin Sushi Asian Cuisine

You might think that you’ve been transported via culinary magic to a vibrant Tokyo alleyway with Venezuelan soul music playing in the background. Only this inviting space is filled with things ideal for a lively Friday night dinner. You’ll find a Miami Spice menu with phenomenal courses, and Japanese-Venezuelan fusion rolls with unique flavors, too. But what really has us praising Chef Taikin is their brownie and ice cream dessert.
Glory be to this creation, served with attentive recommendations from servers like Arianna and that sticky-sweet satisfaction that lingers on your fingertips.

No, we’re not sending you to some generic strip-mall sushi joint where they serve California rolls from a refrigerated case. Sokai Sushi Bar Doral is a genuine neighborhood gem tucked away in Doral. It’s designed as if a sushi master had a hospitality merit badge on the line, and the dining room has one of the most welcoming atmospheres in the area. The Japanese theme extends into the service—our favorite server is Isabel, who offers spot-on recommendations with genuine warmth.
And if you must order here, get the chef’s special sushi selection.

The previously unassuming strip mall spot in Doral is a year-round destination, called Kokai Sushi & Lounge. During any evening, this restaurant is particularly great for a relaxed dinner or late-night lounge session. Crisp sake pours from the bar and fresh sushi rolls arrive on elegant plates as guests settle into the cozy space.
Among the dishes worth prioritizing are exemplary steamed Gyozas, vegetarian sushi rolls that taste more vibrant than expected, and a selection of fresh cuts that you can just go ahead and indulge in.

Just point to choices on the laminated menu, and relax as bamboo plates accumulate until your table glistens like a polished gemstone.
SuViche – Sushi and Ceviche

With its charming swing seats and cozy plants, SuViche feels more like a tropical garden than a sushi spot. The quality of ceviche here is so good that we’re surprised this place isn’t packed all the time. We’re guessing it might have something to do with the fact that some Doral spots advertise $18 bottomless brunch specials, and this is an area full of value-seekers.
But those brunches pale in comparison to the Peruvian-style dishes here—and it’s certainly worth a few dollars more for the attentive service and memorable energy.
Sushi Joe

Sushi Joe is a sit-down sushi joint with a lively, inviting atmosphere and plenty of personality. And hey, that’s perfect considering that the fish here is truly sock-rocking for dinner, whether you go with fresh tuna, eel, or salmon. There are a bunch of options to jazz things up, like the Volcano roll, great white roll, and guacamole tuna, but the sushi is perfect with just perfectly cooked rice and a massive scoop of miso soup.

For those looking to splurge on Japanese fusion, this is the place to do it. Servers in crisp uniforms glide by with attentive care, the space feels modern and accessible, and there’s a vibrant energy that showcases the restaurant’s great culinary culture, for goodness’ sake. Beyond the exceptional ceviche and truffled salmon tartare, the menu offers a unique gastronomic experience that pairs nicely with their fresh and flavorful cuisine.
