One of my favorite Mediterranean spots in Barrie is Tahini’s. I’m fortunate enough to have it just a short drive away! The restaurant offers a great experience with friendly, helpful staff and quick service—though it can get busy, so sometimes there’s a bit of a wait, but they’re always attentive. The food is excellent, fresh, and delicious, with fair portions and reasonable prices that make it a solid value.
Dishes like the chicken wrap, Habibi bowl, shawarmas, and butter chicken are all standouts. The atmosphere is nice, clean, and pleasant for dining in, with plenty of free parking. I didn’t realize people from all over the area were coming to this part of town for such a reliable gem!

We’re fortunate to have such a wealth of Mediterranean options in Barrie these days—Shawarma Palace on Dunlop Street has been a reliable favorite, and a recent visit to Pita Pit was satisfying. When I think of authentic shawarma, though, I think of those simple storefronts from my college days; the ones that focused on traditional street food, and served it fresh off the spit with that perfect char. As a splurge, we’d get shawarma wraps and falafel and carry them out in foil-lined bags.
Sometimes my roommate would treat me to one generous plate of rice rajmah. ‘Comfort food,’ as we called it.
