Katy, TX, or the Energy Corridor’s culinary backyard as it’s known to its barbecue-savvy and margarita-sipping locals, is one of Houston’s most deliciously surprising suburbs. There’s Katy Mills, there’s Typhoon Texas, and there’s the legendary Texas-sized appetites. Theme parks and shopping aside, there are also a load of excellent pies to devour here. From wood-fired Neapolitan to deep-dish Detroit-style, this is where you should be eating pizza in Katy.
Russo’s New York Pizzeria & Italian Kitchen – Morton Ranch
$ | (281) 396-4694 | WEBSITE

This place used to be called Russo’s New York Pizzeria and people would come to Morton Ranch from all over Katy to try their New York-style pizzas made just like they are in the Big Apple. Though the name might have expanded to include Italian Kitchen, this cozy little spot has maintained standards, and the pizzas are up there with the best Texas has to offer. The pepperoni pizza with its praised dough and the truffle mushroom pizza are particularly worth the trip.
And on those days when you want more than just pizza, they have popular dishes like shrimp Alfredo pasta and Russo’s meatballs spaghetti that keep customers coming back. The friendly staff ensures everything runs smoothly even during busy times, making it a reliable choice for a satisfying meal.
Italian Pizza & Pasta
$ | (281) 398-6400 | WEBSITE

Italian Pizza & Pasta is a neighbourhood pizzeria where all the ingredients are fresh and wholesome. This means crispy crusts, amazing toppings, and pasta that’s been called the best-tasting in years. Vibe-wise it’s a popular lunch spot and, if that’s what you’re after, you’ll want to take advantage of the affordable special. It’s clean and bright, casual but welcoming, and there’s seating for dine-in—perfect to enjoy a generous portion and a quick, tasty meal.
Cicis Pizza
$ | (281) 579-1223 | WEBSITE

A direct descendant of the classic American pizza buffet chain model—still reliable and satisfying—Cicis Pizza is a Katy location that feels like it’s been serving families for years. The bustling restaurant is a popular family destination—there’s plenty of high-chair room—and its clean, welcoming feel is a crowd-pleaser. Food-wise there are exemplary pizzas, fresh salads, and flaky pastries to enjoy from the always-stocked buffet.
It’s just as good for hunkering down for a hearty dinner inside as it is for a quick, hot slice-filled lunch with the kids.
Chuck E. Cheese
$$ | (281) 644-4949 | WEBSITE

Chuck E. Cheese is a children’s restaurant just off the main Katy drag that provides good food and a fun environment for kids of all ages. There are plenty of options like stuffed crust pizza and a full salad bar for almost $12 all you can eat, but if the arcade is open you shouldn’t hesitate to let the kids loose. Plus, the trampoline play area is some of the most exciting entertainment we’ve seen for smaller kids.
Don’t miss the ticket-collecting for prizes, which is basically the single most motivating invention since someone came up with birthday parties.
Frontier Pizza
$ | (281) 693-2333 | WEBSITE

Frontier Pizza is easily the best pizza place in Katy, and probably the whole of this part of Texas. Yes, it’s currently takeout only due to renovations, but plan ahead and it won’t be an inconvenience. Besides, it’s worth it. They get pretty creative with their halal pizzas, like chicken tikka with jalapeños, onions, and black olives. They take their cheese pulls seriously as well, but none of this makes for a pretentious atmosphere—it’s relaxed, friendly, and generally easy-going.
Benny’s Pizza Katy
$ | (832) 437-2643 | WEBSITE

Thanks to its unassuming storefront and occasional early closing times, there’s a bit of a low-key feel about Benny’s Pizza Katy. But settle into one of its clean booths or grab a seat facing the HDTVs, and you’ll enjoy one of Katy’s most satisfying pizza experiences. The New York-style slices, under fifteen bucks and always crisp, are our go-tos, and the supreme pizza has more flavor than fancier spots in Houston.
Hungry Howie’s Pizza
$ | (346) 257-0557 | WEBSITE

Drive through Katy on a Friday evening and you’ll spot cars lined up at the bright yellow Hungry Howie’s Pizza on the corner. A steadfast favourite among local families and pizza lovers, Hungry Howie’s makes excellent pies, especially with their signature garlic herb crust. Most people call ahead for their weekend pizza night but you would be remiss not to grab a plain cheese pie and some garlic knots as well. The staff treats every order like it’s their own, after all.
Papa Murphy’s | Take ‘N’ Bake Pizza
$ | (281) 579-7600 | WEBSITE

Every neighborhood has its go-tos. Favorite coffee shops, burger joints, taco stands, and convenience stores. The reasons differ—maybe it’s the friendly staff, or the unbeatable value—but you keep returning for a reason, and Papa Murphy’s is one of our favorite pizza spots around Katy. It’s a straightforward, take-out only place that just makes downright good pizza.
We’ve lost count of the number of times we’ve come here for a grilled chicken with garlic and white sauce pizza and stayed for the sweet Asian chili ribs. The menu is customizable, generous with toppings and so is the experience. As good for family dinners as it is for solo cravings, it’s a firm favorite and we don’t think that will ever change.
Rasoi – Indian Takeout & Pizza
$ | (832) 278-1571 | WEBSITE

Our favourite type of restaurant is the one you drive past for months before finally remembering to order from it, and it turns out to be absolutely brilliant. Rasoi is one of those and we already regret telling you about it. The food is Indian-inspired but generally it’s just excellent, fresh-tasting ingredients treated very simply and very well. Think tandoori chicken pizza with generous toppings or paneer tikka pizza with fresh herbs. Hearty, delicious things that work well together.
The chai is authentic, much like the rest of the approach, and, once you settle in with your takeout, it’s very easy to forget you’re in Texas, let alone just picking up dinner.
Pepperoni’s – Cinco Ranch
$ | (281) 394-5565 | WEBSITE

A quick drive through Cinco Ranch might have you zooming past Pepperoni’s without a second glance. But those craving real pizza will slow down to check how many cars are parked outside this unassuming corner spot, and whether they’ve got time to grab a slice. Cheese-laden pies are the way to go: the Korean BBQ pizza is generously topped and perfectly balanced, and a fresh turkey sub with that signature real cheese is a satisfying meal to enjoy at home or on the go.
For something different, try one semi-vegan pizza now and save another for later. You won’t be disappointed.
Star Pizza 3 Katy
$ | (281) 665-7768 | WEBSITE

There are a couple of things to know before you visit Star Pizza 3 Katy for pizza. First, it’s extremely popular so be prepared to wait, especially on Fridays, and second, the focus is on carry-out, so definitely lean towards ordering ahead. The pizza joint is reminiscent of a classic New York-style spot and it’s a popular, if a little inconsistent crust-wise with the medium Chicago style, Katy mainstay.
But if you stick to anything with the personal Chicago style or the SM NY pizzas you’ll be happy. The SM NY Gorgonzola & Pesto pizza is a favourite.
