The price point is a tad higher than others in the neighborhood, but the quality of pizza is unmatched, and the bustling atmosphere is festive without feeling like an off-the-rails house party.
The extensive menu can be a little overwhelming at first, so if this is your first visit, stick to any of the large pizzas on the front, and no one will go home hungry. We particularly love the cheese bread, which for $8 total, comes with a chewy, buttery crust and a generous topping of melted cheese, alongside a never-ending parade of excellent pizza slices.

We recommend going all-in on the Mama Bearnos pizza piled high with toppings, making each slice feel like a complete meal.

Here you’ll have all the comfort you’ll need to settle in and fill up your table with dishes like thick-crust pizzas, hearty strombolis, and meatball subs. Plus, you’ll also have a front row seat to Chef John’s dough-tossing station.

This vibrant spot has a courtyard that feels more like you’re eating in a lively urban garden than a typical pizza joint. There’s indoor seating with a bustling open kitchen, an outdoor patio strung with lights, and a spacious courtyard that’ll accommodate any group size.
There’s a good chance you’ll be seated under the stars, staring point-blank at a wood-fired oven, and sharing giant slices of deep-dish pizza with your friends, and you know what? You will have a great time here. The Big Hawaiian with hot honey is messy but delicious, and the gluten-free crust topped with ricotta, basil, and pesto is amazing. The $12 lunch special with two slices and a Caesar salad is a steal, and the pitcher drinks keep the mood light.

With a prime spot in Louisville and a diverse menu featuring everything from Veg Manchurian Pizza to BBQ Chicken Pizza to cauliflower crust options, Fire Oven Pizza is the ultimate pizza destination. And we don’t mean that in a casual compliment kind of way either.
The food is absolutely delicious and easily customizable (they offer build-your-own pizzas with fresh ingredients, plus ordering three pizzas earns a free dessert pizza) and the atmosphere perfectly balances being a welcoming neighborhood spot and a clean, well-maintained restaurant where the staff takes pride in their work.
Za’s Pizza Pub

Za’s Pizza Pub is the kind of all-purpose pizza spot we wish there were more of in Louisville. It’s in a safe and pleasant neighborhood, and has large front windows that create a pleasant dining experience where you can fit tables for groups pretty much any night of the week. They’ve got crowd-friendly food that everyone will be happy with – like veggie pizzas, pepperoni pies, and gluten-free options – and fantastic breadsticks that everyone will be even happier with.
The slices aren’t very big, so prepare to order multiples of everything.

This racing-and-axe-throwing hub in Louisville nearly doubled its fun factor by building out a massive rage room in the back warehouse space. Filled with racing simulators and axe-throwing lanes, OVRDRIVE is a great spot to hit when you’re coming back from work with coworkers and you forgot to plan a team-building event somewhere.
You’ll want to try a bit of everything here – racing sims with various car and track options, axe throwing with multiple game options, maybe even the rage room if you’re craving some stress relief – but make sure to include their supreme pizza. We like it served hot and absolutely loaded with toppings. This delicious pie is sure to impress even the snootiest of pizza eaters.

As far as the pizza goes, we tend to go for whatever’s fresh from their high-quality ingredients, but at the end of the day, the reason for the return here will always be that amazing crust paired with cold beer and great music. Just be sure to come hungry – you basically get outstanding food with lively energy that makes you want to visit often.

In reality, you’re in the heart of Louisville, but Coals’ cozy space is designed like a rustic Italian trattoria, making it seem like you’re a thousand miles away. As far as the food goes, expect exceptional pizzas that are both fantastic and perfect for sharing with friends.
Be sure to get the Garlic Bread Flatbread, the Chef’s choice with white sauce, pesto, and pepperoni, and the meatballs for an appetizer.
Boombozz Pizza – Highlands

After years of popularity in Louisville, this solid pizza spot continues to be a go-to in the Highlands neighborhood. The family-friendly dining room with its several TVs and large seating area is perfect for casual group gatherings or watching sports with friends. The menu offers a good variety with everything from the famous green chili chicken pizza and massive tater kegs with ranch to pasta and sandwiches, but it’s all satisfying and great for sharing at the table.
The full bar and decent beer selection make it a complete dining experience, though service can be slow during busy times. Parking is available around the side, making it convenient for those driving in.

Though it’s known mainly for pizza-by-the-slice, tasty breadsticks, and laid-back tavern charm, their delicious pizza menu is secretly excellent and ideal for sharing with large groups of pals who will probably get up and wander around unannounced at some point.

Their outdoor seating area is fantastic, and the type of place where you can roll in with a big group and share endless pitchers of beer without issue. The food is that kind of classic thin-crust pizza everyone loves, and that means you and all your friends are walking away happy.

Wheated sits just off the main drag in Louisville, but its small, lively space – with its bustling energy, simple wooden tables, and the warm glow of the open kitchen – feels like a world dedicated entirely to pizza. And when you’re craving a truly exceptional pie in the middle of the city, that’s precisely the atmosphere you need. That and a menu of fantastic, slightly charred-crust pizzas that everyone can agree on – something Wheated absolutely delivers.

The restaurant is almost entirely focused on communal enjoyment, and all the food is made for sharing. Order a bunch of personal pan pizzas, a few of the deep-dish pies, beers from the excellent selection for the table, and you’ll remember why you love this local spot.
The attentive staff handles large groups with ease, and the fun Tuesday trivia nights make it perfect for families looking to gather over consistently delicious food.
