As one of the top pizza spots in Matosinhos, Famiglia Lamana delivers exactly what you’d hope for from a neighborhood Italian restaurant. It’s easy to understand the appeal – the authentic oven-cooked pizzas come with a wonderful crust and generous toppings, the menu features standouts like the phenomenal garlic and cheese pizza alongside heavenly lasagna and wonderful mushroom risotto, and those free olives and bread that start every meal make you feel right at home.
But what really sets Famiglia Lamana apart is how they’ve maintained that welcoming, accommodating atmosphere where the friendly staff makes even the occasional weekend wait for the oven to heat up feel like part of the experience worth repeating.
Pizzaria Luzzo
The search for a pizza place that feels like a genuine escape from the daily grind can feel endless – even in a beach town like this. If you’re visiting or living around Matosinhos, Pizzeria Luzzo is about as perfect as it gets. The charming restaurant by the ocean isn’t anything more than a cozy dining room and a lovely terrace right by the sea, so don’t come here for a loud party with a big group.
Come here for a really delicious pizza (get the classic margherita) on a lazy afternoon or after a beach walk, and to enjoy it all in peaceful relaxation at a terrace table overlooking the water.
Domino’s Pizza Matosinhos

This excellent pizza spot has a few locations around Matosinhos, but this particular one stands out for its consistent quality and service. For those evenings when you need something satisfying, warm, and reliable to cap off a long day, their vegetarian pizza is a guaranteed hit. This well-crafted pie is topped with fresh vegetables and quality cheese for a somewhat balanced meal.
If you’re looking to throw something else into the mix, get their classic pepperoni pizza, which is traditional toppings baked on a perfectly crisp crust. When it comes to enjoying pizza here, we throw the metaphorical rule book out the window, so don’t be surprised if you order a bit of everything and end up dipping your crust in extra sauce too.
Presto Pizza Matosinhos
Your week’s been a marathon of deadlines, your inbox looks like a digital avalanche, and your last attempt at cooking ended with the smoke alarm serenading you. It’s been one of those stretches where you need something simple and satisfying. Head to Presto Pizza Matosinhos. Our advice at this welcoming spot is to grab a medium crusty pizza with the extra thin dough—one per person is perfect—and pair it with a fresh salad.
The vegetarian pomodoro pizza, with its crisp crust and bright flavors, is the kind of straightforward, affordable delight that makes everything else fade into the background.
Pizzeria Pulcinella

Pizzeria Pulcinella is a seemingly unassuming pizza spot tucked away in Matosinhos. We say ‘seemingly unassuming’ because it’s actually anything but ordinary. Known for the best pizzas in Portugal, Pulcinella has been crafting exquisite pies with quality ingredients long before artisanal pizza became a trend. But aside from its legendary reputation, the food tastes incredible.
We suggest the classic margherita, the pepperoni special, and whatever seasonal creation pizzaiolo Victor is offering that day. Then sit with your feast and watch the friendly, attentive staff work their magic in the open kitchen.
Pizza D’Artista – Matosinhos
For all the pizza styles you can find in Matosinhos, authentic Neapolitan is still a bit underrepresented. And that’s why when we first saw Pizza D’Artista appear on local food blogs in the spring of 2025 talking about their new location in Matosinhos, we were intrigued. And then when we tried their pizza, we were really impressed.
Neapolitan-style pizza leans heavily on a dough that’s been fermented for optimal flavor and baked in a blazing hot oven, so when you’re at Pizza D’Artista, every meal needs to start with their signature crust and generous toppings. The pizza here is crispy and fluffy with a pronounced quality you can’t often find in Portuguese pizzerias. At €14, the large pizza + starter combo is a fantastic value for how much food you get.
BOX 208 Italian Food
BOX 208 Italian Food is a restaurant inside a beautiful, comfortable space in Matosinhos, a place where you can enjoy well-prepared Italian meals, park your car in their private indoor lot, and feel transported to Italy in one visit. This welcoming, well-decorated spot near the heart of the city does a mix of classic and standout Italian dishes, like the ravioli al tartufo and gamberi, bowls of spaghetti ala carbonara with grana padano cheese, and their specialty, shrimp pizza.
This innovative pie comes topped with fresh shrimp and hits you with savory, cheesy notes when you take a bite. The crispy and flavorful pizza goes great with their rich lasagna and their divine, carefully presented shortcake, finished with a touch of sweetness that adds delight to the final course. Expect higher prices.
Pizzeria Posto 94
There are two reasons to come to Pizzeria Posto 94 in Matosinhos: pizza and pasta. The former are excellent across the board, with thin, crisp crusts and flavorful toppings, and the pasta is solid too, especially if you like seafood with personality. There’s a good chance the staff will greet you from behind the counter while preparing fresh dough or tossing king prawns into pasta (the simpler vegetarian pizzas here are our favorites, though).
This fast-service spot is near the beach—sunset views are abundant, and seating is convenient, especially after a swim. With a nice space and friendly service, Pizzeria Posto 94 has the charm of authentic Italian spots where locals grab a quick, satisfying meal.
Pizzeria Antonio Mezzero Matosinhos
Pizzeria Antonio Mezzero Matosinhos sits in a beautiful space near the beach and is easily our favorite place for Neapolitan pizza in Porto. Pretty much everybody at this kid-friendly Italian spot is here for the excellent $18 pizzas.
Whether it’s a classic Margherita with fresh mozzarella and basil, the generous vegetarian option loaded with roasted vegetables, or the house special with premium imported ingredients, these are well-crafted, authentic pizzas that make you realize how many other places are cutting corners. That said, don’t you leave without trying their expertly prepared appetizers, too.
