Everyone loves pizza. And if you don’t, well, more for us. Verdun is good for pizza. In a pool of tomato sauce, a sprinkle of fresh basil, a drizzle of olive oil, or right from the wood-fired oven—pizza is a unifier. It’s as vital for late-night cravings as it is for celebratory dinners. So it’s no wonder Verdun has all manner of them: thin, thick, crispy, chewy. These are the best ones in Verdun.

If you think that ordering a vegetarian pizza from a place known for its quick delivery feels a little uninspired, then that’s fine. You’d be mistaken of course, but it just means more PRIMAVERA PASTAS for the rest of us. Put it this way, outside of a gourmet pizzeria solving the dinner rush, you won’t find a more reliable pie in Verdun than these consistently good pizzas. They’re part sparse with toppings, part inconsistent in cooking, but always prepared to your liking and arriving hot.

Pizza Mory’s

Every pizza needs character. And in the story of this guide, the character comes in the form of Verdun restaurant Pizza Mory’s. Or specifically, in the shape of a meat Lovers pizza. And, more specifically, whether debating the intricacies of a sesame crust actually matters in the grand scheme of things. Clearly not. While this Montreal spot’s pizza looks like a straightforward affair, the resolution is undeniable: complete and cheesy satisfaction.
Pizzeria Geppetto Verdun

The first time we tried to visit Pizzeria Geppetto Verdun we showed up just as the open kitchen was being wiped down. The pizza ovens were cooling, the display case held only a few leftover slices, and the Mushroom crostini trays were empty. But on the counter sat a generous takeout box. Courtesy of the staff. A slice of Piazza Mazzarian, some darker chocolate pie, and tiramisu: some warm, some chilled, some melting. All delicious.
The fresh pizzas we returned for the next evening were even better. The lesson? You can’t measure the value of a neighborhood pizzeria this consistently excellent in Verdun.
Metro Pizza Verdun

Metro Pizza Verdun’s fries make every other interpretation of ‘hand cut’ look and taste like they’ve been made by a pug using a slotted spoon. These babies, these are angular. Sharp and crispy on the ends, but straight and fluffy down the middle. In a world of glaring tattie imperfections, the freshly made creations from this legendary pizza spot shine bright. A special mention goes to the Verdun location’s unapologetically delicious pizzas as well.
Woodland Restaurant

Burgers and fries can be done many ways and at Woodland Restaurant, it’s done the nostalgic way. The burger is pleasant but the fries stand on their own. Crispy golden sticks with the occasional perfect curl (and a generous scattering of those coveted end pieces) are the kind of fries that are best classified as dangerous.
You can quite easily find yourself settled in this cozy Verdun dining room, dunking fry after fry into their slightly changed, signature sauces, pausing for a bite of their homerun, old-style Montreal pizza, before returning back to your little paper boat of fries. The onion rings are great too, and the all-dressed sub is very filling. It’s the best bang for your buck, with fantastically clean surroundings and friendly service that makes you want to stay.

When we think of the ‘Combo Crave’ Pizza from Pizza Pizza, we find ourselves getting tangled up in all kinds of cravings and debates. What makes a perfect pizza? When does customization become an art? Whatever the answer, one thing for sure is that the pizza at the Verdun restaurant is absolutely delicious. Get it with fresh ingredients and a perfectly baked crust like we do, or try the vegetarian options.
Whatever you do, make sure to enjoy the friendly atmosphere while streaming drone races as you wait.
Bistro Garage Café

The citrus cake at Bistro Garage Café is non-negotiable. Not overly sweet, nor bland, but the perfect balance. It’s good enough to be enjoyed with just a simple dusting of powdered sugar but the coffee served at this cozy Verdun bistro elevates the dessert into a sublime experience. One bite can be paired with a rich dark roast that whispers of chocolate and caramel, while another can be used to savor the lingering notes of your mushroom omelette’s herb butter.
A cup of their house blend, seducing with warmth and singing with citrus undertones, is always welcome too.
Basilico Pizza and Pasta

There are two things you should be doing on Nuns’ Island. One is enjoying a glass of affordable wine at Basilico Pizza and Pasta and another is eating their wood-fired pepperoni pizza. This veteran of Montreal’s Italian dining scene knows its stuff, and the combination of perfectly crisp crust with fresh pepperoni and melted cheese is always a winner. Especially with a side of their homemade tiramisu.

A perfect evening in Verdun looks like cheese curd poutine and a slice of pepperoni pizza at Rex Pizza. The family-friendly spot has plenty of quick seating for dine-in, and its generous portions and fairest prices will sort you out on a busy night. The gravy comes with rich, savory depth which has optimum-levels of flavor and a pleasingly smooth texture. There’s a generous scattering of melty cheese on top too. No notes.
Zappy Pizza

You can’t just be a restaurant with ‘value’. Because having ‘value’ is elusive and hard to pin down, unless you’ve genuinely got it. Zappy Pizza has, and always will have it. We have never left this unpretentious Verdun spot less than satisfied thanks to a souvlaki plate or two, and a meal that has never not involved their all-dressed pizza. Thick with cheese, loaded with pepperoni, with extra napkins and a happy stroll to the metro. This casual Greek spot is as good as everyone says.

Straightforward in appeal and in taste, Stanz’s Hamburger Trio is definitely a DEAL. You know, Dependable Eats At Low-cost. It’s juicy, it’s satisfying, but it’s all about the value. Quality beef, fresh toppings, and that signature sauce hit all the marks. It’s hearty, generous in portion, and wallet-friendly. And like most DEALS, the burgers at this Halal spot in Verdun are best devoured.

If you love Italian pizza but usually find yourself settling for cardboard crusts and sad excuses for mozzarella, you’ll love Pizzéria NO.900. Lit by warm, inviting lights and the glow of contentment on diners’ faces when they bite into these pies, it’s a laid-back neighbourhood spot in Verdun with a comfortable, modern feel. The standout Neapolitan pizzas here have a perfect char and chew that’s heavy on the authenticity.
Pair a Margherita with some house wine and prosciutto pizza if you want to fully live out your Naples fantasies.
