This Cedar Hill spot is generally crowded on weekends, when it’s full of families and groups celebrating special occasions. On busy nights, the atmosphere gets a little more energetic. They’ll have the big game projected on the main screen, and more on the TVs scattered throughout the dining area. The drink menu here has enough variety to please everyone, and the appetizer selection—particularly the Great Ball of Fire—is pretty great.
The Arnold Palmer is always refreshing, and the coconut shrimp comes out crispy and satisfying. While the Daddy Feast Crab Bucket might not hit the mark for everyone, the staff is attentive and will happily replace anything that doesn’t meet expectations. Overall, it’s a solid choice for a casual meal where you know the service will take care of you.
Los Tapatios

If you prefer Mexican restaurants that feel more like neighborhood spots—specifically neighborhood spots in Mexico—Los Tapatios will speak to your taco-loving heart. What this Cedar Hill spot lacks in spacious dining areas, it makes up for with a friendly welcoming atmosphere, authentic dishes that are also consistently flavorful, and some of our favorite Mexican foods in existence (the barbacoa tacos are perfect).
There’s a convenient location off the freeway that makes it an attractive option, but there’s plenty of local love here, too—maybe just don’t expect drink refills if you’re planning a long meal.
Great American Cookies

Thinking a cookie shop is just a quick stop might be your first instinct, but when that shop is Great American Cookies, you gladly make the detour. Sure, plenty of people inside Great American Cookies are there solely to indulge in treats like those perfectly balanced cookies, but on any given day, this place comes alive with community—particularly the regulars who know the staff by name. When you need something special, there’s genuine enthusiasm for designing your cookie and excellent customer service that makes you want to return.

Chick-fil-A is a legendary fast-food joint in Cedar Hill known for its friendly employees, fast service, and chicken sandwiches that are easily some of the best in town. They aren’t fancy or served with a bunch of gourmet toppings, but you don’t want/need that sort of fuss when you’re grabbing a quick meal with your kids in the play area.
You get to choose your desired sandwich style, and while ordering the grilled chicken is non-negotiable, we’ll let you pick between that and the new one with pimento cheese.
La Antojeria jalisco

La Antojeria Jalisco is the official home of authentic Mexican cuisine in Cedar Hill, the kind of spot that makes you forget you’re in Texas. If those words don’t mean much to you, this family-run restaurant also does generous portions on every plate, and has a solid menu that includes genuinely good Birria Pizza (try the green salsa if you’re feeling adventurous or want to reach for water for a minute afterward).
La Antojeria Jalisco may be a slightly loud dining room, but it’s a Mexican restaurant nonetheless. A really good one.
Orabis Mediterranean- Greek Restaurant

If you’re craving a genuine taste of the Mediterranean in Cedar Hill, Orabis is the obvious choice. The take-out only spot, known for its warm and welcoming atmosphere, delivers a culinary journey with every order. The menu features flavorful staples like garlic bread, lamb chops, grilled veggies, rice, falafel, and tzatziki sauce, so stick with the customer favorites: the falafel platter with fresh salad and the fresh, made-to-order lamb.
And if you happen to order the vegetarian options, get the vegetable samosas or roasted veggies with hummus, which come seasoned to perfection.
Sam’s Pizza

Situated in downtown Cedar Hill, Sam’s Pizza became the go-to pizzeria in the area the moment it arrived. Yes, it provided authentic Italian flavors in a region that has very little of them, but the space is also simple and inviting, the pizza is top-notch, and there are generous portions and reasonable prices and even a family-friendly atmosphere if you’re rolling deep after a hike. Stick to any of their stuffed pepperoni pizzas.

With a welcoming environment in Cedar Hill, Avocado California Roll & Sushi is one of the area’s most reliable Japanese restaurants. There’s wheelchair accessible seating, a diverse menu with everything from tonkatsu ramen to creative sushi rolls, and standout dishes that include the Alexander roll, Volcano 2, and the eel roll.

Chili’s Grill & Bar

While there certainly are better burger joints in Cedar Hill, there’s no denying that Chili’s Grill & Bar is a great place for a family meal. With attentive staff and food that arrives fresh and hot, there isn’t a bad bite in the house, and no matter how busy it gets, guests are seated quickly. There’s also a solid menu with everything from great-tasting burgers to the 3 for Me deal.
Cafe Plato Loco

Cafe Plato Loco is one of Cedar Hill’s most popular (read: family-friendly) Mexican restaurants, so it’s no surprise this local favorite has been serving the community for over 30 years. Located in the heart of town, not only does Cafe Plato Loco provide this area with satisfying Tex-Mex, it’s also a legitimately affordable place for a meal. Is anyone here actually just here for the food? Not really. But the occasional karaoke nights give you the option.
There’s also weekday lunch and happy hour specials with discounted drinks, and if you want to exercise your taste buds, the Rodrigo’s Revenge hot sauce draws the adventurous diners.
MOON SUSHI & RAMEN

We’re willing to overlook the inconsistent service at this Cedar Hill sushi spot because it delivers the sushi essentials. They’ve got excellent presentation with those boat platters, the sushi is good enough that you might go here on a non-special occasion (try the dynamite roll with cooked salmon), and even during the busiest dinner rush, finding a seat in the clean atmosphere is less stressful than the ramen noodles are overcooked.
FLUFFY’S CHICKEN &CATFISH

A small, bustling cafe in Cedar Hill would probably do just fine if they had decent food and quick service. But Dick’s Uptown Cafe is a lot more than that. The menu has some pretty great stuff to choose from—we like the spinach and mushroom mess with biscuits and gravy, and you can’t go wrong with any of the crepes filled with berries. There are plenty of tables and large portions served, so even if your friend has very specific tastes in breakfast dishes, they’ll be happy.
Weekend mornings get wild here.
Campuzano Mexican Food

This modern Mexican spot in Cedar Hill has been serving the community for years, and though the location may be more compact than its Waxahachie sibling, the clean, decorated interior makes excellent use of the space. Campuzano’s is where you go on a busy weekend night to enjoy some great food and end up staying for hours, sipping their limited spicy margaritas and sharing the large nachos fit for a king.
The attentive waitstaff make you feel cared for, even when the place gets loud and the lighting stays low, creating that perfect atmosphere for a night out. While some dishes like the chicken enchiladas could use more flavor and the fish tacos’ corn tortillas might need doubling up, highlights like the crispy need tacos and that perfectly balanced salsa keep you coming back.
It’s a popular spot that delivers well-cooked food with lots of flavor, offering plenty of options to suit different tastes.
