Tavern in the Green
$ | (708) 907-3107 | WEBSITE

Tavern in the Green pretty much only does one thing, and that’s serve satisfying pub food you’ll want second and third helpings of while settling into a wooden booth. Modeled after classic neighborhood taverns, this family-friendly place has hearty plates, as well as a welcoming atmosphere and efficient service. Dishes cost around $15 each and range from the standout Pecan Cranberry Chicken Salad with sweet potato fries to shrimp with firecracker sauce and crispy fish and chips.
Wojos
$ | (708) 423-1121 | WEBSITE

This nostalgic south side favorite that’s been in business for over 40 years puts a premium on comfort, and the staff’s cheerful, welcoming attitude elevates the experience. The signature Swiss & mushroom burger with sweet potato fries, for example, has its own loyal following—though it’s the strawberry milkshake we still find ourselves daydreaming about.
The plentiful milkshake selection here features over 100 flavors at reasonable prices, but there’s also a variety of options including hotdogs and veggie burgers (there, the dining area is clean and freshly cooked food is available, but the friendly service takes priority).
Porter Cullens Irish Pub & Restaurant
$$ | (708) 907-5558 | WEBSITE

A lot has changed about Evergreen Park in the past few years, but Porter Cullens is forever. The fish and chips here are still great, with its large, flaky fish and crispy batter, as is the welcoming, cozy, and intimate atmosphere. If you’re planning a casual group dinner, this place should be at the top of your list—there are plenty of new menu items to try, which are never disappointing. If you just want to get a drink, head to their friendly bar area, where the owner often checks in on guests.
Lucky Bamboo Inc
$ | (708) 636-1868 | WEBSITE

If you’re reading this and you still haven’t been to Lucky Bamboo Inc, we hope you’re having a nice day, and we also hope you stop reading this and go to Lucky Bamboo Inc. Ideally, you’ll bring a few friends to this Chinese restaurant and tackle as much of the menu as you can. But if you don’t have anyone who currently wants to eat with you, a plate of the shrimp lo mein for takeout is an excellent solo dining choice.
Spoke and Vine
$$ | (708) 620-8877 | WEBSITE

Spoke and Vine is Evergreen Park’s version of a modern neighborhood haunt. It’s intentionally welcoming, as if it’s trying to conjure the casual spirit of a local favorite, with sleek wooden tables and warm lighting that invites you to settle in so you never want to leave. It feels like everyone gets a friendly nod here, and an evening involving their impressive wine flights, roasted carrots, and rich toffee cake has the power to turn any ordinary night into a memorable one.
SmallCakes Cupcakery
$$ | (708) 930-5682 | WEBSITE

An instant sweet spot for the neighborhood when it opened in the spring of 2025, this cupcake bakery has become an essential Evergreen Park dessert destination. Their beautifully crafted cupcakes include Oreo, Hostess, and a wide variety of other flavors. And when you’re craving something sweet on a Saturday afternoon, their moist cupcakes are the ideal thing to sink your teeth into.
Wolf’s Bakery
$ | (708) 422-7429 | WEBSITE

This beloved bakery exudes “welcome to grandma’s kitchen” Evergreen Park charm. In addition to the lemon fluff cake that practically floats off the plate, and cupcakes with perfect flavor, you’ll find friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere. Come for coffee and pastries with a friend, and get a custom cake order if you’re feeling celebratory. They also have efficient service during busy times.
Rosangela’s Pizza
$ | (708) 422-2041 | WEBSITE

Rosangela’s Pizza is a Chicago pizzeria in Evergreen Park where you’ll find a classic red-checkered tablecloth vibe and something called the burnt cheese topping (always available). The top-three Chicago pizza spot, Rosangela’s serves hearty pies that taste like they’re coming straight out of a kitchen in Little Italy. Try the Battaglia sausage pizza, or the warming gnocchi covered in fresh tomato sauce, and share a big family-sized pizza with your friends.
ICHIDDO RAMEN
$$ | (708) 529-3959 | WEBSITE

It’s easy to get swept up in eating the delicious spicy pork ramen at this Japanese noodle spot. With a bowl full of fresh noodles, perfectly cooked pork, and multiple takoyaki on the table, it’ll take a few bites before you realize that the broth has just the right amount of heat, and it’s totally worth it. Choose between the spicy pork ramen, crispy chicken ramen, or spicy beef ramen, and then round out your order with some fried pork buns and takoyaki.
Located in a serene southwest side space, this welcoming alternative to Chinatown also has well-thought-out decor and a clean environment that makes for a comfortable dining experience.
Golden Griddle Pancake House
$ | (708) 636-5656 | WEBSITE

Evergreen Park has plenty of diners where you can grab a quick breakfast, but Golden Griddle Pancake House is our favorite spot in the neighborhood to enjoy pancakes that someone else cooked for us. Their strawberry waffle with a side of bacon is the best in town, and the clean, welcoming space (it’s bright and cheerful with plenty of seating) is a great place to gather the family for a weekend treat, especially on a chilly Saturday morning.
Ordering a stack of pancakes with fresh coffee just feels right when you’ve survived another long week.
Slice Factory
$ | (708) 424-1100 | WEBSITE

Slice Factory is a pizza-focused Evergreen Park spot located in a welcoming storefront, and it has a casual atmosphere, a straightforward counter setup, and a steady stream of regulars that gives the place its neighborhood feel. Despite the quick-service format, this isn’t the sort of place where you’ll feel rushed. The friendly space is comfortable and reliable, and you’ll want to grab a couple of things like the delicious pizza slices and well-made wings.
J.J. Sausage
$ | (708) 576-8939 | WEBSITE

J.J. Sausage’s pork chop sandwich tastes like a childhood memory, and it’s the signature dish of this cash-only take-out spot that’s one of our favorite quick bites in the neighborhood. Our favorite way to go here is the beef sandwich. Between the tender, melt-in-your-mouth pieces of beef and the nostalgic simplicity, there’s lots of satisfaction that gets wrapped up in that classic take-out experience.
Add in some excellent fries rolled in something special, and you’ve got yourself a mighty fine meal. Either take your sandwich, plus those great fries, to enjoy elsewhere, or just savor the quick service and satisfying food right at the counter.
Thithi’s Restaurant
$$ | (708) 634-3925 | WEBSITE

Evergreen Park residents have plenty to celebrate, and high among those reasons is the neighborhood’s good fortune in hosting Thithi’s Restaurant. As of now there’s no regulars’ rewards program—but it’s still reassuring to discover that some of the south side’s most compelling fusion cuisine is tucked right there on a local street, inside a charming, warmly lit dining room that evokes a cozy neighborhood bistro.
The dishes are unapologetically fresh, with flavors so clean and balanced that we’d gladly finish the remains from a spice-averse diner’s plate. They don’t offer à la carte small plates, which practically requires you to make it a shared feast. The situation could be far less delightful.
La Cocina Jalisciense
$ | (708) 424-1111 | WEBSITE

You have to go looking for La Cocina Jalisciense. It’s in a mostly commercial area in a converted space that feels like a simple storefront, and if it weren’t for the strong Mexican aromas wafting from the doors, you could easily miss it. A small part of us wishes we could keep this place all to ourselves, but you should know that La Cocina makes some special authentic dishes.
The tacos are flavorful but balanced, the steak tacos are savory perfection, and they’re generous with ingredients like chorizo, shrimp, and cheese. There are only a few tables inside and near the counter, so this is a spot for an efficient, semi-religious solo dining experience.
King’s Wok
$ | (708) 499-8088 | WEBSITE

King’s Wok has been around for over a decade, but this classic Chinese takeout spot has maintained its status as an Evergreen Park favorite. Their lunch specials are instantly satisfying, sort of like comfort food or a reliable old friend. Our go-to orders are the Chinese BBQ ribs, which are tender and well-seasoned, and the shrimp & lobster sauce with shrimp fried rice.
If you want to avoid the occasional missing item in delivery orders, call ahead to confirm, then pick up your food and enjoy the convenient parking. The decent customer service and big portions make it a standout compared to other local options.
Charleys Cheesesteaks and Wings
$ | (708) 529-3318 | WEBSITE

From the same folks behind Evergreen Park favorite Charleys Cheesesteaks and Wings, this sandwich spot specializes in satisfying riffs on classic comfort food. Their thin and flavorful cheesesteaks have turned us into regulars (they sell out during peak hours), and the wings come well-sauced but also perfectly sized for sharing. Always expect generous portions, and always expect those portions to be entirely worth it.
Wingstop
$ | (708) 425-9464 | WEBSITE

Wingstop is no longer just a convenient spot for quick chicken on 95th Street. This is a destination for wing enthusiasts—and it deserves every bit of praise it receives. While the standout items here are the Lemon Pepper and Garlic Parmesan wings, the boneless wings are just as impressive, if not more. Always order the sweet and spicy fries and whatever dipping sauce you prefer, and save some room for more wings.
Five Guys
$ | (708) 576-8305 | WEBSITE

Five Guys is a well-known burger chain with locations across the country, including this spot in Evergreen Park. It operates like a classic American fast-casual joint, serving straightforward burgers and fries that consistently hit the mark. A meal runs about $12–$15 for a burger, fries, and a drink, so if you’re craving a reliable, filling bite without any fuss, head over for a quick, satisfying lunch or dinner.
