Let’s be honest: Maumee might not be your first thought for a culinary destination. You’ll pass strip malls and chain restaurants that make you question the journey. But hold steady. Hidden among the familiar are gems worth discovering—if you know where to look. Here are the spots that make the trip worthwhile.
Schlotzsky’s
$ | (419) 893-9266 | WEBSITE

Schlotzsky’s is all about really good sandwiches in a really welcoming setting. And for somewhere with portions this massive, it’s pretty good-value too. Go for the Fiesta Chicken or the Avocado and Smoked Turkey with bacon. Even if you come for a quick lunch, a side salad with that amazing ranch probably won’t hurt either.
Burger King
$ | (419) 893-3277 | WEBSITE

Burger King has long had a reputation as being one of the best places to get a burger in Maumee, and we agree. All the food is served fresh and hot, and each order is prepared in a reasonable amount of time without a long wait. The recently remodeled location has a very clean interior filled with the sounds of families dining and having a good time.
Besides burgers, Burger King does very good plant-based options (get the Impossible Whopper), and the friendly staff at this outpost is excellent and reason enough to visit on its own, especially if you just want a Veggie Whopper and a soda.
La Fiesta maumee
$ | (419) 897-9222 | WEBSITE

Sometimes you need somewhere warm and authentic to escape to, which is where La Fiesta Maumee comes in. The Mexican restaurant in Maumee can be easily overlooked. Once you do find it, you’ll discover a cozy space where the menu is straightforward, and people are happily tucking into birria tacos, margaritas, and other delicious things. It’s a restaurant that really suits a small group but can stretch to a family gathering—arrive early if going for the latter.
The food is lovely and generous, and if it’s available, the birria tacos in particular are something you’ll regret agreeing to share.
Tim Hortons
$ | (419) 326-2526 | WEBSITE

The morning rush around Maumee can be hectic at the best of times, so why not escape the chaos with a perfect black coffee with caramel in hand? That’s just one of the smart moves you can make at this walk-in-only spot along the main strip. Although Tim Hortons has a few mixed reviews about service during busy periods, it’s most compelling when you stick to the coffee and donut classics like their divine regular black coffee with caramel and delicious donuts.
The flavors are consistently good and it’s as perfect for a quick bite as it is for a leisurely coffee break.
Flatrock Fallen Timbers
$ | (419) 868-8114 | WEBSITE

Flatrock Fallen Timbers is a burger joint, but we keep coming back for their thick, juicy patties and welcoming little spot. This blink-and-you’ll-miss-it restaurant is ideal for a mid-afternoon treat. Burgers are grilled to order, slathered in sauce, and paired with sides—the BBQ burger and parmesan truffle chips are our favourites. But it’s the Caesar salad that put this spot firmly into our lunch rotation.
It’s fresh, but not enough to make it boring, and there’s a creamy, tangy flavour from the dressing, with a sprinkling of parmesan for some rich, welcome crunch.
Starbucks
$ | (419) 460-5126 | WEBSITE

Starbucks is known for being a go-to spot for students and remote workers, which makes sense since it’s right in the heart of Maumee. It’s also known for being one of the most reliable places to get a quality coffee. We like to come to sip lattes and enjoy the atmosphere, while pretending that we’ve just finished a big project (the quarterly report, but still). Prices for things like specialty drinks are predictably moderate, and their superb latte will cost you just over five dollars.
But it’s perfect for catching up with friends or for a quiet afternoon.
The Village Idiot
$ | (419) 893-7281 | WEBSITE

The Village Idiot is a bustling pizza joint serving enough crispy crust and generous toppings to shake you out of your suburban doldrums. The Greek pizza is a zesty little number with feta and olives, and you’ll be tempted to ask the massive meatball pizza about its workout regime. The highlight, though, is the thin-crust pizza. Crispy, flavorful, with an essential self-service aspect that serves as the ultimate casual experience.
Dale’s Bar & Grill
$ | (419) 893-3113 | WEBSITE

This single-story neighborhood bar and grill in Maumee is for two very different experiences. The indoor dining room is all classic bar vibes and family-friendly energy, while the patio seating is all casual conversation and catching-up-with-friends atmosphere. If you’re headed here with the kids and are after some of the best burgers in town, sit inside where the TVs provide entertainment and make a meal of it.
But if you’re in the mood for a drink and generous portions with someone you know, know you can order Chef Brian’s entire menu outside too.
P.F. Chang’s
$$ | (419) 878-8490 | WEBSITE

The warm welcome from servers like Monét, who greets you with genuine kindness and thoughtful recommendations, is just one of the reasons why we appreciate P.F. Chang’s. That personal touch is the first indicator you should be trusting her suggestions for the Singapore Noodles or Mongolian Tofu dinner special.
Although some of the other dishes at this popular chain can show inconsistencies (cc: the limited vegetarian options), overall this spot delivers on its promise to provide fabulous food and superb service that you can enjoy for around $25 per person.
Cracker Barrel Old Country Store
$ | (419) 482-6096 | WEBSITE

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, a longtime favorite for hearty American comfort food, will make you fall in love with family dining. The restaurant’s atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the food is consistently delicious, and everything, from the friendly staff to the charming gift shop and ample parking, feels pretty special. Get there early on weekends if you want to try the honey butter fried chicken, and don’t skip the country boy breakfast with steak tips—it’s a must-try.
Just be prepared for potentially slow service during busy times, as some recent visits have noted.
Bangkok Kitchen
$$ | (419) 897-7777 | WEBSITE

The open kitchen at this Thai spot means you can watch the cooks tossing generous portions of Hawaiian fried rice in woks, frying golden spring rolls to crispy perfection, and plating dishes with the vibrant colors of authentic cuisine. The more packed Bangkok Kitchen gets, the more satisfying a meal feels, so plan a weekend visit if you’re after that lively communal energy.
But when you just want a quick solo dinner, weekday evenings are perfect for grabbing their signature dishes for around $15-20 each—always delivering that amazing taste and prompt service that makes this place a go-to.
Dino’s Family Restaurant
$ | (419) 891-1290 | WEBSITE

For a comforting family meal in Maumee, Dino’s Family Restaurant is a reliable choice. Whether you’re grabbing breakfast or dinner, you’ll feel right at home in the cozy diner. Service is attentive and friendly, plates are cleared promptly, the large picture windows offer a view of the street, and homestyle favorites satisfy even if the décor is simple.
You could come for the affordable chili Mac or Belgian waffles, but you’d be missing out on their fresh vegetarian options and delicious desserts.
Brew House Coffee & Bake Shop
$ | (419) 740-3222 | WEBSITE

Brew House Coffee & Bake Shop is a very comfortable spot where you can drink some excellent coffee and have a good, uncomplicated time. Grab a table by the window if you’re coming alone and are happy to have quiet moments with a book. But the cozy seating area at the back—home-like furnishings, soft lighting, and warm wood tones—is more group-friendly.
Conversation flows easily over any background music, staff are happy to rave about a perfect blueberry lemon scone with you, and regulars set down their laptops, swapping them for coffee mugs.
