Things move at a brisk pace at Tim Hortons, a coffee shop on the Blvd near the falls. People swing by, grab a Boston cream donut along with a coffee, and decide to settle in for a bit just to warm up. This spot has consistent favorites, so check out what’s fresh. Two of our go-tos are the blueberry muffin and the cinnamon raisin bagel. You’ll see plenty of folks order a whole box of donuts to go, and you should consider doing the same.
The fireplace corner makes for a cozy spot on chilly days, and while the morning service is usually fast, double-check your drink size to avoid mix-ups. For about $5, the breakfast meal with coffee hits the spot without breaking the bank.
Chili’s Grill & Bar

Between the clean atmosphere, window seats, and affordable menu deals hanging by the entrance, Chili’s Grill & Bar looks like a welcoming spot that landed in a good location and started serving really good American comfort food. Which, now that we think about it, would be an excellent place for a casual meal. This spot works especially well for a quick lunch with coworkers, or anytime you and a few friends want to get together and enjoy some solid food without breaking the bank.
Just make sure that the juicy smashburger is on your table.
Indian Kitchen King

It’s hard to neatly categorize this family-run spot in Niagara Falls. It’s a lunch buffet, but also a dinner destination. It has classic North Indian dishes, but also regional specialties. We’ll just call it one of our favorite places to indulge, relax, and forget about the clock. Grab a table in the cozy dining room, or near the air-conditioned window, and ask the sweet owner about what spices they’re using today.
Then pair a plate—or several—with malai kofta that melts in your mouth or paneer tikka with fluffy, warm naan, which has our vote for best Indian comfort food in town.
716 supreme subs

No matter what time you visit, this popular sub shop is probably going to have a crowd. Luckily the line moves quickly, so come prepared knowing what you want to order. Aside from the must-try haddock sub with sweet buffalo sauce, fresh steak and chicken subs, and some of the best pizza around, this place also offers over 50 wing flavors. Keep in mind the restaurant is currently undergoing remodeling, but the huge dining room can still be booked for private parties.

Wendy’s

Wendy’s is where you go for fast food in Niagara Falls. It’s been around for years, and you’ll pretty much always find a crowd here. That’s because the food is reliable, it has plenty of parking, and most things cost less than $10. Also, baked potatoes. People like to eat them. It has something to do with sour cream, chives, and comfort food cravings (but mostly sour cream). Get one along with the cheeseburger, Apple pecan salad, and some vegetarian options.
They also have a kid-friendly atmosphere, in case you want to bring the whole family.
Marketside Restaurant

Marketside Restaurant is one of the only spots in town specializing in classic American breakfasts, like flawless omelets and stellar home fries with peppers and onions. From the huge breakfast sandwiches and delicious waffles with fruit to the best French toast and strawberry chocolate pancakes, all of the dishes at this restaurant are memorable. Like a cozy diner, this place works well for a family meal.
It’s warmly-lit, and all the welcoming touches make you feel like you’re having breakfast at home.
Palms Shawarma & Mediterranean Cafe

The owner at Palms Shawarma wants to make sure you’re satisfied, and this means they’ll let you sample almost anything on the menu, as if you’re at a tasting counter. Can’t decide between beef and chicken shawarma? A small bite from each wrap, and you’ll know the obvious choice is chicken. You’ll have to decide on what sauce you want too. We always go for the garlic sauce and either the tahini or the spicy yogurt.
There’s not much more to the space than a handful of cozy tables and soft music in the background, and most people get their food to go.
Frenchy’s Pizzeria

Frenchy’s Pizzeria is a bit of a local institution. Regulars line up for the square-style pizza that’s been a favorite for years, and there’s always a steady crowd. But don’t just come for the classics, because they also have some of the best pizza in Niagara Falls. We usually go for the half tray pepperoni or the sausage and cheese pizza, which is bold with that sweet red sauce.
You can get both of those by the slice or as a whole pie, but if you get a full order, you can add sides like those ridiculously good Funnel Cake Fries and a big portion of buffalo chicken slices.
NIAGARA GUYS

Generally speaking, late-night pizza joints are about as predictable as the tourist crowds outside. But the food at Niagara Guys is different. This is a casual spot with a comfortable courtyard and interior, and just enough space for the polite staff to prepare those soft, doughy pizzas with great pure mozzarella and spicy sauce. Each visit offers your choice of favorites, from the large wings and pasta Alfredo to the chicken rice bowl with grilled chicken, salad, and tangy white sauce.
The fries and fish and chips round out the menu, all well-prepared and flavorful, and all affordable enough for a satisfying escape from the nearby attractions.
David’s 716 Bar & Grill

David’s 716 Bar & Grill is named for the owner’s local roots, and we’d like to thank him for creating this welcoming neighborhood spot. Some things—like the 50-cent wings on Thursdays and the jalapeno brisket burger—are worth planning your visit around, so if you’ve been looking for a reason to treat yourself, you now have one. A lot of people come for the bar, but this place also has friendly servers and a nice atmosphere. Head to nearby Niagara Falls afterwards if you don’t have plans later.
Steak Stone & Sushi

This steakhouse has serious culinary chops. The kitchen team clearly knows their way around quality ingredients, while the bartenders have that welcoming neighborhood vibe. But what they’re doing here with the hot stone concept is decidedly unique. You’ll find very good examples of classics like the NY Strip on the Stone and New England clam chowder, as well as more adventurous options, like the spicy tuna cucumber wrap and Stuffed Jalapeño.
There’s no rush to leave, and the whole place has that relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. We don’t know why exactly, but cooking your own steak at the table just makes the whole experience more memorable.
The New Sullivans

Take a cue from the summertime vibe, and get something (anything) with poutine. For a quick and easy meal, go for the classic poutine topped with just a little extra gravy, so you taste pure comfort food. If you’re willing to get a little indulgent, the loaded poutine with all the fixings is even better. You order at a counter, and there’s lots of seating in the casual outdoor area, which is slightly nicer than a typical food stand.
If it’s not too busy, grab one of their soft-serve ice cream cones, and eat at their simple picnic tables shaded by cheerful umbrellas.
Phyl’s All Day Breakfast and Lunch

If you’re looking to spend a reasonable amount of money on breakfast, Phyl’s All Day Breakfast and Lunch is generally a good way to go. While $12 for pancakes might seem moderate, the portions at Phyl’s are relatively generous for homestyle cooking, plus eggs, bacon, and more. You can also order lunch options if you don’t want breakfast, and they offer a few different omelette and sandwich plates.
Phyl’s is certainly busier than your average neighborhood diner, but it’s still comfortable and friendly.
