And even though it’s been serving the community for years, the friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere, and great food remain the same. This local favorite continues to offer a unique dining experience with scenic views, as well as satisfying classics—like their massive club sandwich. Stacked high with fresh ingredients, the sandwich comes with a generous portion of fries and is incredibly filling.
The burger and fries looked equally good, and the Cuban sandwich was tempting too. With large portions, efficient service, and fair prices around $12–$18 per entrée, it’s a great spot to relax, enjoy the beautiful setting, and leave completely satisfied.

You’ll see dishes like the loaded waffle fries, which are so generously topped you’ll feel like a king. The delicious wings are wonderfully zesty.
The bar area expansion has made it an even better spot to enjoy a beer and watch a game, and their atmosphere should have the disclaimer ‘handle with care’ because it contains something precious. Available for dine-in and takeout, you place your order at the counter, then hang out inside the expanded space while you wait.

And we’re happy to report that this Shoals location maintains that same Feel Good Factor™. This is partly due to the cozy atmosphere and friendly staff, but also because the menu of hearty comfort food (like perfect fried chicken, delicious fried zucchini, and chocolate pie) is consistently excellent.
What’s different is that the scenic lake view from the windows is an added bonus, and the breakfast buffet provides a wonderful variety of options.

Also worth noting is that the shakes and floats come in so many delicious flavors, making it a perfect summer spot for families and teens.

We’re not sure when we all decided to put gravy on our tenderloin, but we’re so glad we did. Velma’s Diner is (as the name suggests) a home-cooked meal spot on Main Street near the river. Their tenderloin is perfectly breaded and should be paired with their Philly sandwich, a cup of their delicious coffee, and a slice of their tasty blackberry cobbler. Always get the blackberry cobbler to enjoy with your meal, to take home for later, or just to savor with another cup of coffee.
Never leave the diner without it.
