This Colombian place is a little more affordable and a whole lot more welcoming. Reservations aren’t necessary, but it’s a place that always feels just the right amount of lively.

Mr. Baguette is a reliable option that fills that niche, and manages to be consistently satisfying while doing so. This cozy spot is perfect for a breakfast date or a casual lunch catch-up, with great beverages like the matcha latte and a menu of things like avocado toast and the highly recommended ‘Mr. B con Bistec’ sandwich.
The vegetable medley on the sandwiches is an unexpected bonus. Always order things from their pastry case—the almond croissants are delicious.
Jersey Mike’s Subs

The space is clean and casual and there are plenty of bread choices to pick from, so at the very least, you can wash down your hunger with something other than the old leftovers in your fridge.

Jholano’s Deli is that hidden sandwich shop cousin who just discovered imported Italian meats. It has the same focus on fresh, homemade ingredients and massive portions, but with a more tucked-away feel, and also more vegetarian flexibility. This deli works for pretty much any lunch situation – you can grab a quick takeout panini here, or make the most of the bright red door entrance with a casual meet-up.
The menu has lots of unique sandwiches to share (get the Jholano with prosciutto, mortadella, and sweet fig jam) and truly delectable focaccia bread. Jholano’s has been a favorite for years and it’s still tricky to snag a prime lunch hour spot across from UM Lennar Medical Center, so clearly they’re doing something right.
