If you’ve ever found yourself in Doral craving a proper sandwich but faced with a sea of identical strip-mall storefronts and generic menus, this scenario might ring true: you pick one at random, hoping for more than just assembly-line deli meat between bread. Chances are, you’re about to overpay for mediocrity. But it doesn’t have to be that way.
Yumwich
$ | (305) 596-2635 | WEBSITE

Yumwich is a solid choice for an easy lunch in Doral, especially if you’re a sandwich person. There’s great mom and pop food, and generally more of the cozy family atmosphere. The sandwich list is simple but consistently satisfying, and they even have a secret sauce that definitely belongs on a list of must-try condiments. This is a good place to go for some turkey or prosciutto sandwiches on a weekday.
TEA-05
$$ | (305) 603-8757 | WEBSITE

TEA-05 is a member of the cozy boba scene that makes Doral such a delightful place to hang out. The drinks here are fantastic (get the strawberry fruit with tapioca boba and the signature coffee) and so is the atmosphere, which is pretty much always relaxed. Expect to linger, because everyone looking for a modern spot to unwind with friends is heading here for a refreshing treat.
But you can always sample some of their homemade traditional snacks – just don’t get too full, because you’re going to want to finish all those unique smoothies.
Don IGNACIO
$$ | (305) 820-1091 | WEBSITE

Don Ignacio is like that charming uncle who insists on telling you stories about his youth in Spain: he’s got a flair for the dramatic, and he knows exactly how to make you feel special. He’s not exactly your everyday lunch spot, just like Don Ignacio is not your everyday sandwich shop. But this cozy Spanish restaurant gives you a reason to be in this part of Hialeah.
The tapas are delightful across the board, the atmosphere is perfect for celebrations, and the service makes every meal feel like a memorable event. Just like that time your uncle casually mentioned his secret paella recipe, you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how authentic and satisfying an experience you can have at Don Ignacio.
Mi Sandwich Cubano
$ | (305) 556-5550 | WEBSITE

At this point, if a Doral sandwich shop isn’t doing something special with Cuban flavors, it might as well close up shop. But just like you learned the hard way in high school, getting that authentic taste just right is pretty difficult. Avoid disappointment and head straight to Mi Sandwich Cubano, the spot that does the whole flavorful/tropical combination thing really well.
Expect to eat (and thoroughly enjoy) sandwiches like the full everything with that amazing garlic sauce, plus some fun side sauces that make everything better. Add a friendly staff and that great tropical vibe inside, and you’ve got yourself a pretty perfect lunch spot.
Mr. & Mrs.Bun
$$ | (786) 717-6244 | WEBSITE

You won’t find many sandwich shops in Doral on this list, mostly because unless you’re a local, very interested in gourmet food, or a regular at the featured spots, you might overlook the area. But you should make the exception to go to Mr. & Mrs. Bun. You won’t mind that you just drove all the way to a cozy family-owned joint just to eat a perfect, unique sandwich with tomato basil soup and a glass of Happy Hour Sangria for less than $20.
That’s way more satisfying than any ordinary lunch spot in Miami.
McAlister’s Deli
$ | (305) 477-5574 | WEBSITE

You just spent an hour in traffic trying to find parking at the mall, and now you need somewhere straightforward (with iced tea) to help you recover from that ordeal. McAlister’s Deli is pleasantly reliable, and happens to be a place where you can eat some pretty great sandwiches and drink sweet tea. It’s casual and affordable, and you should absolutely order the club sandwich, even though it is the most popular thing on the menu (at $12).
Sabor La Negra
$ | (305) 631-2204 | WEBSITE

If you’re looking for the authentic Colombian home-cooked experience of a family kitchen without the long wait times, try Sabor La Negra in the shopping center. This Colombian place is a little more affordable and a whole lot more welcoming. You might accidentally fill up on the complimentary Colombian candies before your meal arrives, but don’t – you’re going to want to save room for every last bite of your Bandeja Paisa or chicken with mushroom sauce.
Reservations aren’t necessary, but it’s a place that always feels just the right amount of lively.
La Esquina del Pan con Bistec 2
$ | (786) 615-4134 | WEBSITE

It’s hard to tell if this Cuban spot is popular because it serves authentic food around the clock or if it serves authentic food around the clock because it’s popular. Either way, you can count on people paying very fair prices for fantastic pork steak with onions and very good pan con bistek, just on the off-chance they’ll get that perfect cortadito.
Obviously, it’s affordable at this Doral-adjacent location, but it’s a perfect option for a satisfying meal where you might catch locals enjoying crispy golden fries.
Mr. Baguette – Doral
$ | (305) 888-7072 | WEBSITE

Doral has plenty of grab-and-go spots and plenty of upscale eateries, but not many places that strike a comfortable balance. Mr. Baguette is a reliable option that fills that niche, and manages to be consistently satisfying while doing so. This cozy spot is perfect for a breakfast date or a casual lunch catch-up, with great beverages like the matcha latte and a menu of things like avocado toast and the highly recommended ‘Mr. B con Bistec’ sandwich.
The vegetable medley on the sandwiches is an unexpected bonus. Always order things from their pastry case—the almond croissants are delicious.
Jersey Mike’s Subs
$ | (786) 796-9687 | WEBSITE

Some days require a sub. There are infinite reasons for wanting to shove cold cuts and bread into your mouth – but if you’re in Doral, your options are limited. Don’t think, just head straight to Jersey Mike’s Subs. Their sandwich options range from classic to unique like the pastrami, but pretty much any choice will be good. Also, get it Mike’s way.
The space is clean and casual and there are plenty of bread choices to pick from, so at the very least, you can wash down your hunger with something other than the old leftovers in your fridge.
Phat City Subs
$ | (305) 392-0407 | WEBSITE

There are sandwich shops you visit when you need a quick lunch between meetings. And then there are sandwich shops for when you’ve been craving the perfect sub all week. Phat City Subs is for the latter. You enter the cozy space with a counter and a few tables, greeted by owner Pablo who makes you feel right at home, and end up eating the best Tripleta you’ve ever had, along with a chicken Philly with that addictive crack sauce, all for about $25. Good thing you saved your appetite.
Jimmy John’s
$ | (786) 957-6727 | WEBSITE

Some days, you want to pretend you’re enjoying a leisurely lunch in a Parisian café instead of scarfing down something at your desk because there’s a meeting in five minutes. On those days, you should grab lunch at Jimmy John’s. This new spot in Springs looks just like a quick-serve sandwich shop you’d find in a college town, which would be unremarkable if you were actually on campus, but is kind of refreshing in Doral.
The sandwiches are solid (get the Bootlegger), the bread is good, and the service is both fast and genuinely friendly at the same time.
Jholano’s Deli
$$ | (305) 661-0177 | WEBSITE

Jholano’s Deli is that hidden sandwich shop cousin who just discovered imported Italian meats. It has the same focus on fresh, homemade ingredients and massive portions, but with a more tucked-away feel, and also more vegetarian flexibility. This deli works for pretty much any lunch situation – you can grab a quick takeout panini here, or make the most of the bright red door entrance with a casual meet-up.
The menu has lots of unique sandwiches to share (get the Jholano with prosciutto, mortadella, and sweet fig jam) and truly delectable focaccia bread. Jholano’s has been a favorite for years and it’s still tricky to snag a prime lunch hour spot across from UM Lennar Medical Center, so clearly they’re doing something right.
1821 Sandwich Shop
$ | (786) 816-1821 | WEBSITE

Being at 1821 Sandwich Shop feels like you’re eating at a food truck in Lima in the 2010s, except instead of tourists and backpackers, you’re surrounded by locals and late-night workers who are about to get their fix. The space is all standard chairs and tables, where you sit and enjoy an affordable Peruvian menu. The food comes in ridiculously generous portions, but the good news is it’s all really excellent and unlike any Peruvian food you’ve had before.
Substantial Subs
$ | (305) 622-9277 | WEBSITE

Substantial Subs is classic, accessible sub shop fare served in a vibrant space that makes for a great quick meal. You won’t find any new takes on sandwiches here – what you will find are gigantic, delicious Philly cheesesteaks, excellent breakfast subs, and strong coladas. Bring people you know won’t judge you for having provolone cheese dripping down your chin. You’ll be too busy slipping into a food coma to care.
Super Subs Etc. Inc.
$ | (305) 665-0990 | WEBSITE

You know those lunch spots you’ve been going to for years? They’re reliable but still satisfying, you don’t have to think too much about it, and you pretty much know what you’re getting. Super Subs Etc. Inc. is exactly like one of those spots. It’s a neighborhood sub shop in South Florida, just far enough away from the flashy chains so as not to be filled with tourists and food bloggers looking for the next big trendy sandwich and/or Instagram mural.
Super Subs has solid chicken teriyaki subs, a perfect grandma’s hot sauce, and loyal customers enjoying predictably great takeout lunches.
Outrageous subs and salads
$ | (305) 552-6533 | WEBSITE

You go to Outrageous Subs and Salads when you want to eat a lot of very solid sandwiches and salads in a cozy atmosphere that the Miami crowds haven’t discovered yet. This is a fun spot where you will devour an entire cheesesteak to yourself and might consider drinking the honey mustard dressing straight from the cup.
Fill a booth with friends before a night out or come with a date on a weeknight – just know that one custom sub here is satisfying enough to make you forget about everything that’s been sitting in your to-do list since 2024. Plus, they have consistently great service with friendly staff who make you feel welcome any time you visit.
Subrageous Subs FIU
$ | (305) 220-7332 | WEBSITE

There are many things Subrageous Subs FIU has going for it, like the stellar chicken and cheese sub, the soft baked cookies for a sweet treat, and the $14 sub platter you can get during lunch hours (which run from 11am-2pm). It’s a family-run spot, with a crowd of students and locals enjoying quick service in a caring atmosphere. So, you’ll forgive the place for having slightly high prices, which will inevitably force you to budget a little extra for the delicious food.
Firehouse Subs Kendall
$ | (786) 431-1340 | WEBSITE

The subs at Firehouse Subs Kendall are, in a way, background food – and we mean that as a compliment. All the classic options here are fantastic, it’s just that you won’t be talking about them all through lunch, mostly because you’ll be having too much fun. This place knows how to do atmosphere with interesting and welcoming decor, staff who are probably talking about you in Spanish as they serve you, and plenty of space for groups.
The crowd is a mix of families who’ve been eating here every Saturday afternoon for years and people grabbing quick work lunches. Sure, it’s affordable here, but after a few bites of that classic meatball sub, the pricepoint will fade into the background too.
