When it comes to steakhouses, Marina Del Rey has it all. In fact, our prime cuts are one of the main reasons your friends will visit during the summer, and then end up staying at your place for three extra nights. We have classic chophouses, we have waterfront restaurants for you and 13 friends on a Saturday night, we have intimate spots perfect for a celebration or kicking off a big weekend—and in all of those categories (and more), we’ve gathered the best of the best below.
The Penthouse at Mastro’s
$$$$ | (310) 888-8782 | WEBSITE

Like other top steakhouses in the area, The Penthouse at Mastro’s offers an upscale dining experience with outstanding steaks and a lively party atmosphere, complete with live music setting the mood from the moment you walk in. Almost every dish is expertly prepared and involves premium ingredients, including scallops, lobster mac n cheese, porterhouse steaks, and a celebratory butter cake highlighting perfectly tender meat and rich flavors.
No matter what makes it to the table, expect bold and delicious tastes with an assist from the attentive service treating guests like royalty.
Steak 48
$$$$ | (310) 388-0048 | WEBSITE

This elegant Beverly Hills steakhouse offers a bone-in ribeye that we can only describe as transcendent. While we ate it, time stopped and the restaurant dissolved around us like pixels in The Matrix and nothing existed besides the truth of perfectly marbled beef and flavorful truffle butter. Steak is (obviously) the specialty, but the menu also includes incredible shrimp cocktail, surprisingly amazing braised pork belly, delicious creamed corn, and a wonderful drinks list.
Plus, it’s decorated with a beautiful interior that will help elevate your evening even after your meal is gone.
The Backyard
$$ | (310) 395-1741 | WEBSITE

The Backyard means exactly what it says—a patio restaurant whose outdoor space is so cozy and garden-like that it feels like you should bring your own lawn chairs and start grilling, too. But this casual spot makes up for its backyard simplicity with a menu full of great American comfort dishes. Like their savory steak sandwich or the wedge salad with just the ideal amount of crispness and creaminess from blue cheese.
The Mahi-Mahi sandwich on a toasted bun with homemade tartar sauce is also delicious, and comes with perfectly crispy French fries. The inside is so relaxed it’s best for quick hangouts and casual dinners, but a festive patio with comfortable couches around a fire provides some additional seating for group outings.
The Galley
$$ | (310) 452-1934 | WEBSITE

The Galley has been in Marina Del Rey for nearly a century, and clearly they’ve spent every year of that time perfecting their steaks and seafood. This spot is a relaxed neighborhood favorite, and on the weekends you can expect a lively crowd of regulars. Once you settle into your table, order the panko crusted halibut, with fish that’s perfectly crisp from being fried in a light, golden crust.
It comes with a side of fries or salad, so keep enjoying bites until someone suggests dessert and/or you’ve fully appreciated the friendly, efficient service.
Fia Steak
$$$$ | (424) 355-5437 | WEBSITE

You can find steakhouses pretty much anywhere in LA, whether in high-end dining rooms, hotel restaurants, or from some food truck grilling them up for late-night crowds. But the ones at this upscale-casual spot in Marina Del Rey surpass them all. They’re tender, flavorful, and so perfectly cooked they’d make a master butcher jealous.
As you sit at Fia Steak’s cozy main dining room or outside tables surrounded by greenery, bites of the ‘three-finger’ Bistecca alla fiorentina or the Wagyu sampler will launch you into steak-fueled euphoria. Save room for their cocktails, too—the 2pax California Dreaming is crafted with such expertise that it’ll get even lifelong wine drinkers excited about mixology again.
STK Steakhouse
$$$$ | (310) 659-3535 | WEBSITE

The filet mignon from STK’s classic steakhouse menu makes you pause in appreciation, like you’re witnessing a masterclass in meat—or the finale of a great symphony. It arrives with a side of bacon mac and cheese, and tells you everything you need to know about this Marina Del Rey spot: you’re in for a polished, indulgent meal.
Other dishes follow suit, like shrimp scampi that swirls garlic butter into a luxurious dance or brussels sprouts with a caramelized char that channels the savory, satisfying notes of a perfect side. And despite its premium $180 price tag and its high-end steakhouse atmosphere, STK isn’t rigid or overly formal—you could absolutely wear smart casual attire to enjoy a NY strip with a glass of cabernet.
Porterhouse Bourbon & Bones
$$$$ | (310) 648-8500 | WEBSITE

Porterhouse Bourbon & Bones is a sophisticated steakhouse in Marina Del Rey, and the food here is so exceptional that you’ll find yourself thinking about it when you should be doing other things—like finalizing a quarterly report, or giving a toast at your cousin’s rehearsal dinner.
The menu has about 3,589 mouth-watering things for you to choose from, with a great selection of steaks, a ton of seafood options, fantastic filet mignon, and a wagyu steak that happens to be one of the best cuts in Los Angeles, period.
Ruth’s Chris Steak House
$$$$ | (310) 821-4593 | WEBSITE

The original Ruth’s Chris locations are wonderful, but they’re more of a classic steakhouse experience. The one we’re talking about here is the Marina Del Rey spot, which is much, much more elegant. The menu is still the same, and it focuses on steak, which you can get perfectly cooked and sizzling, with wonderful dessert plates on the side. Because beef is a magical thing and every bite of it is somehow delicious, you can’t go wrong celebrating a birthday or anniversary here.
The Georgian Room
$$$$ | (424) 722-6846 | WEBSITE

This is an exceptional restaurant that works for any occasion—whether it’s date night, catching up with a few friends, or dining solo when you need to cure a really bad mood. The menu primarily focuses on classic steakhouse fare, like a memorable clam linguini, perfectly cooked steaks, and some excellent cocktails.
There’s a high likelihood you’ll feel like a million bucks in the warm, cozy atmosphere—and you’ll be too busy enjoying the sophisticated surroundings to answer, “Great!” On top of all that, the space is elegant and Budapest-inspired, making this a perfect choice for a special evening (especially if you can get a seat away from the close tables).
The Grill on the Alley
$$$$ | (310) 276-0615 | WEBSITE

In case the name didn’t give it away, this classic steakhouse in Marina Del Rey specializes in consistently outstanding food and service. As soon as you walk in, you’ll be greeted with a warm welcome and a complimentary slice of Key Lime pie if you’re celebrating an anniversary. And this thoughtful gesture is a perfect start to what will be a memorable dining experience.
From well-prepared steaks to diverse menu options to desserts that guests consistently praise, we haven’t eaten anything from The Grill on the Alley we didn’t enjoy. The restaurant feels more spacious than you might expect, warmly lit and elegant, and has a comfortable main dining room with plenty of tables for special occasions. Another reason we really like this reliable spot? Exceptional wine knowledge from the professional staff and a great atmosphere for both lunch and dinner.
American Beauty
$$$ | (310) 412-0075 | WEBSITE

Before discovering American Beauty in Marina Del Rey, we thought we’d already found our favorite steakhouses in the area. Now that we’ve experienced their wood-grilled flatbread and that incredible 15-day ribeye, we’ve reached a new standard for what a great steakhouse should be. The restaurant offers excellent service and a great ambiance, making it a popular choice that’s always buzzing with energy.
The food is overall very good, with standout dishes that keep us coming back—like the addictive crispy Brussels sprouts with kimchi aioli and mint, and the Iowa Hanger steak served rare that’s absolutely perfect. We’ll return for more, often. And if you see us savoring every bite of that Heritage Baby Back Ribs with its sweet and spicy twist, those are tears of pure culinary joy.
Meat On Ocean
$$$$ | (310) 773-3366 | WEBSITE

Meat On Ocean is located in Marina Del Rey. The space is classic, and there’s a menu of consistently excellent food that remains concise (you’ll find things like fresh oysters with mignonette, perfectly cooked steak, and seafood that’s particularly noteworthy). The atmosphere is enjoyable, which makes it perfect for a special occasion—or any other kind of evening when you actually want to appreciate the stunning ocean views from your table.
JW Steakhouse
$$$ | (310) 293-5471 | WEBSITE

JW Steakhouse is a popular venue that feels a little like a refined airport lounge before a long-haul flight, and we mean that in the best way possible. The food here is satisfying and well-executed, from their good steak, to a unique old-fashioned style cocktail, to a delicious surf and turf dinner prepared by Chef Maria. This spot is a nice alternative to the usual suspects in Marina Del Rey if you’re planning a special occasion or a group outing.
Yard House
$$ | (310) 822-7690 | WEBSITE

This very casual spot in Marina Del Rey feels like it’s one neon light away from being a sports bar. But Yard House is a sit-down restaurant with solid steaks, and the atmosphere feels like a constant happy hour. What you’re going to want to order here is the steak—specifically the filet mignon plate (which comes with generous sides that you should enjoy with a cold beer) and lobster (which pairs perfectly with the Garlic Butter pasta).
It’s great for groups, easy to get a table, and perfect for having a good time.
George Petrelli Steak House
$$ | (310) 397-1438 | WEBSITE

If George Petrelli’s blend of old-school charm and modern comfort isn’t enough to draw you in, the food absolutely will. This wonderful steakhouse in Marina Del Rey serves exceptional steaks, with their famous New York steak being among the best I’ve ever tasted. The French Onion soup is also a standout, truly the best anywhere, and their juicy, char-grilled burgers are seasoned to perfection.
And thanks to the impeccable, welcoming staff and great atmosphere that makes every guest feel taken care of, this place feels like a celebration. It also doesn’t hurt that while prices may be on the higher end, the quality of food and service makes it worth every penny for steak and burger enthusiasts.
The Arthur J
$$$$ | (310) 878-9620 | WEBSITE

If The Arthur J were a movie, then the protagonist would definitely be the incredible Waygu Ribeye, the star of the restaurant’s superb steaks, antelope, sunchokes, butter laden mashed potatoes, and unique bourbon bone marrow luge. And the sides aren’t just supporting characters—they’re stars in their own right.
The Arthur J uses premium ingredients for their Caesar Salad, and everything from the rich mashed potatoes to the flavorful sunchokes, to the steak in their signature dishes, is thoughtfully crafted. The menu at this upscale spot in Marina Del Rey is exquisite, so plan on having an existential crisis deciding what to get. And everything’s made-to-order, so expect to pay around $150 per person for the full experience.
But just sit back, enjoy the welcoming atmosphere (though it can get quite loud), and get ready for some of the best steakhouse dining in California.
Carlitos Gardel Argentine Steakhouse
$$$$ | (323) 655-0891 | WEBSITE

Carlitos Gardel Argentine Steakhouse is a family-owned gem for excellent Argentine steaks, wine, and a welcoming LA atmosphere. It’s been a local favorite for 28 years, but now it’s a warm, bustling steakhouse that’s perfect for celebrating over martinis. The steaks warrant a visit as much as the ambience, whether that’s incredible beef carpaccio with delicate shavings, or scallops that pair each plump morsel with a crisp white wine and a little truffle accent.
