If you think Arlington’s culinary scene begins and ends with barbecue and Tex-Mex, let these eleven sushi bars prove you wrong. From minimalist omakase counters to lively izakaya-style spots, this city’s best raw fish destinations offer everything from melt-in-your-mouth toro to creative fusion rolls—each a testament to Arlington’s quietly thriving Japanese food culture.
Hokkaido Sushi & Steak House
$ | (817) 478-6086 | WEBSITE

Hokkaido Sushi & Steak House is one of our favorite places to eat in all of Arlington. It’s a sushi and Chinese spot with amazing fresh sushi that’s hands down the best in the area, and tastes even better with their perfectly balanced miso soup. They recently updated their menu but kept all the classics, so there’s even more to enjoy with that Philadelphia roll, Mongolian chicken, orange chicken, and flavorful hibachi dishes.
Come here for a casual lunch or early dinner before checking out the nearby attractions.
Umi Sushi & Grill
$$ | (817) 459-2779 | WEBSITE

For years, this has been the go-to spot for sushi in Arlington. A handful of other places have popped up, but this remains our favorite for fresh rolls and Japanese classics. They offer a wide variety of interesting sushi options—spicy tuna, California, and rainbow rolls—but the Cowboy roll is the one we consistently return to, especially when we’re craving something with a bit of kick. There are also plenty of other excellent dishes like the bento box, spicy edamame, and more.
Sushi Go Arlington
$ | (817) 672-5253 | WEBSITE

Beyond the consistently fresh sushi rolls, our favorite part about Sushi Go Arlington is the cozy, unassuming atmosphere. Each time we visit, we always notice something charming about the small space, like the warm lighting that makes the pink-colored rice pop, or the friendly chef’s station where you can watch the Ida roll being prepared. A quick meal here is like discovering a hidden treasure that also happens to include great Japanese-American fare.
While everyone knows about this place for their sushi (rightfully so), the plate of their perfectly seasoned beef and chicken hibachi rice is another standout.
Samurai Hibachi Express
$ | (682) 587-4788 | WEBSITE

Tucked away in a strip mall, this restaurant is one of the few spots in Arlington with a dedicated hibachi menu that doesn’t break the bank. They’ve been around for a while now, but consistently remain a go-to for many local diners. Their combinations are satisfying, with tender steak and flavorful fried rice every time, but if you want something truly standout, go for one of their popular dishes—like the crispy Jalapeno Tempura or the sweet and savory Teriyaki Chicken.
The dining area has a casual, no-frills setup with accessible seating, so we usually end up here for quick lunches or casual dinners.
Ninja Sushi & Grill
$ | (682) 252-4367 | WEBSITE

Ninja Sushi & Grill is one of the standout sushi spots in Arlington, and it’s still delivering great value. Since opening, they’ve been offering fresh sushi and cooked dishes long before all-you-can-eat became the go-to option for budget-conscious diners. Along with their regular menu, this restaurant provides the first taste of unlimited sushi for many Arlington residents.
The prices also feel like a throwback—the all-you-can-eat buffet is just $15, making this one of the most affordable sushi experiences around, no question. Come for the buffet and get some fresh nigiri and an extra plate of sashimi, or cooked dishes covered in savory sauces for a super satisfying meal that’ll keep you coming back.
Nagoya Japanese Restaurant
$$ | (817) 466-3688 | WEBSITE

Nagoya Japanese Restaurant is a family-owned sushi bar that has been serving the community for over 17 years. Before Nagoya opened, there weren’t a lot of places in this part of Arlington where families could get together for authentic Japanese food, and it’s fast become a cornerstone for special occasions and celebrations. Plus, it’s a great place to bring a group when everyone wants something different—from cooked sushi samplers to shrimp tempura and chicken katsu.
Go during the week for a more relaxed experience—try the Green Crystal roll, some tasty dumplings, and any house specials you see—and stick around for the fun atmosphere with cool decorations like non-functional lava lamps and an onion volcano.
Mr. Hibachi – Steakhouse | Sushi | Bar
$$ | (817) 583-6723 | WEBSITE

Mr. Hibachi has been around for a while, and is the perfect entry point into the hibachi restaurant scene here. The steakhouse-sushi bar specializes in, you guessed it, all kinds of hot hibachi grills and fresh sushi rolls. We like the particularly tender hibachi chicken, but always add on some appetizers like gyoza, those pan-fried dumplings with savory fillings. And the Mr. Hibachi rolls, those flavorful sushi creations with beautiful presentation, are a must.
They recently moved into a larger space that’s good for groups, and now have a much bigger dining area that’s perfect for birthday parties and special occasions.
Shogun Hibachi and Sushi
$ | (682) 320-8119 | WEBSITE

Shogun Hibachi and Sushi is one of the original Arlington spots serving high-quality Japanese cuisine. And today, it remains one of the top destinations for anything from a substantial salmon and steak dinner to satisfying spicy crabmeat rolls. The menu certainly offers a wide variety—yes, you can find dynamite rolls and tempura shrimp here too—and you truly can’t make a bad choice. This cozy establishment is relaxed, efficient, and it’s where you head when you crave something reliably delicious.
They also have a solid selection of bottled drinks, which is uncommon for restaurants in the neighborhood.
Piranha Killer Sushi
$$ | (817) 261-1636 | WEBSITE

There is no shortage of sushi spots in Arlington, but Piranha Killer Sushi is the one to prioritize for their excellent spicy tuna roll. Theirs magically never gets too spicy or leans too bland—it’s the perfect combo of fresh, flavorful, and balanced. There are plenty of other rolls worth getting, too. Grab a seat at the sushi bar and watch the chefs in action, and pick whatever speaks to you from the selection of sushi. Our favorites are the Bullet roll, Marry Me roll, and calamari.
Pokeworks
$ | (817) 583-6283 | WEBSITE

This is our favorite overall sushi spot in the area. There are many like it—quite literally, there are several poke bowl chains around—but this location is ours. That’s mainly because the seafood is consistently fresh and top quality here, unlike a lot of other fast-casual options in the area. Our perfect order is one bowl with cool, tender fish, one with crisp, vibrant veggies, and one drizzled with their recommended spicy mayo sauce.
It’s a perfect stop for a quick meal, and the prices (around $13 per bowl) are very reasonable. Just know that the rice is always warm, and the atmosphere is kept very clean and efficient.
Soy Cowboy – Loews Arlington Hotel
$$$ | (817) 766-6444 | WEBSITE

The elegant interior with its high ceilings and tall windows has long been a beacon of sophistication for those seeking a memorable dining experience. This fine dining restaurant was one of the first in Arlington to offer such a diverse Asian-inspired menu, introducing people to the beautiful world of spicy tuna rolls and hamachi chili. Bring some friends to share the family-style plates and know the meal here runs about $40-60 per person for a full experience.
The whole operation is perfect for a special occasion dinner that feels worth every penny.
