Prepare yourself because what we’re about to say is quite overwhelming for us dedicated pub fans. Coach & Lantern serves Guinness. That’s right, this truly excellent pub in Ancaster has only gone and combined the greatest Irish stout with the greatest cozy atmosphere going. And for that, we salute them. The building here dates back centuries but the friendly staff is a permanent fixture.
They’ll set you back just under ten bucks but after-work drinks have never made more sense when they’re this perfectly poured and ready to be enjoyed by a crackling fireplace.

Not only do they have a rooftop patio with porch heaters that makes us feel like we’ve been transported somewhere where it’s acceptable to drink on a perfect fall afternoon, their truffle pizza is delicious a f. It comes with that perfect crispy crust and if you haven’t got $25 knocking around then you can also opt for a classic pizza for $18.
The Granville Island beer and Bellwoods sour options are exactly what we want when catching up with friends, and the Sunday PJ brunch service makes us feel like we’ve found our people. Frankly, we’re impressed if you haven’t been yet, but the point is that this is our go-to for amazing food, fast service, and that great atmosphere that keeps us coming back.
Scaddabush Italian Kitchen & Bar Burlington

The mozzarella with bread and fig jam at this Italian feelgood playground in Burlington is so comforting that you’ll want to order it before you even look at the menu. Scaddabush is famed for having Hamilton’s best spaghetti with a giant meatball and a bolognese you’ll just keep eating until you need a two-hour nap, but the pizzas like Diavalo and Margherita only come as part of their vibrant dining experience.
You’ll need to bring some friends because the atmosphere is made for sharing, but any and all last-minute group texts will be worth it when you’re sitting down to eat Caprese salad with lemon honey vinaigrette, toscana kale salad, gluten-free options, and lots more alongside those perfect pizzas.

West Plains Bistro, a cozy spot that recently got a decor refresh, just so happens to do one of the best salads in Hamilton. It’s fresh, crisp, and for a generously portioned main its $22 price tag is kind-of reasonable.
If that doesn’t sound like your thing or you just really hate delicious escargot for a reason you’d rather not disclose, then know that you can also get Escargot with Fries, beautifully presented with garlic butter and, if you’re feeling especially indulgent, a side of their wide range of delicious desserts too.

But if you’re rolling with someone who is still on the fence about steakhouse elegance, then a good shout is Lord Nelson Steak House in Burlington’s beautiful, intimate setting.
An old-school sit-down situation with warm service, impressive wines, and generous, artistic plates, their Rib Eye Steak makes us very happy. Served with perfect presentation, tender texture, and mouth-melting flavor, it’s an absolute beast of a steak, so prepare yourself for some serious knife-and-fork gymnastics trying to savor every last bite. That being said, if you’re looking for a memorable, special-occasion option it’ll totally hit the spot.
Jacksons Landing

Jacksons Landing is a vibrant gem. This spot has become one of those go-to Hamilton haunts where you feel like all the city’s best celebrations have unfolded on their bustling upstairs patio and that at least a dozen memorable Saturday brunches have been shared over their huge charcuterie boards.
It’s home to one of the best burger experiences in Hamilton and the Spanish-influenced tapas-for-three is also entirely fabulous, but when a restaurant like this offers a bacon jam burger that gets everyone talking, then you know you need to get involved in some burger action. You can opt for the classic brunch, a shared tapas spread, or a cozy main course, but be warned that the prices are solidly mid-range and a full meal with drinks will set you back a reasonable $50–$60 per person.
Of course, soaking up the energetic atmosphere, kid-friendly servers, and the feeling of enjoying a slice of Hamilton dining joy is all very much included in that price.
